Bestiary Thread

We have a Common Magic thread going - now, a bestiary thread.

Put your creatures here. Material beasts, please: non-sentient, because I've got another one set up for humanoid races and yet another one for incorporeals, including diseases.

Use the format for beastly stats as shown in Monsters of Legend. Give average figures as well as the dice to roll, CAs, natural weapons, natural armour. Whatever they have going for them.

Just after the title, put a category, species type and feeding habits; Sauropod, Big oversized bus of a bronto, herbivore.

Describe its habits and habitat. Is it solitary, or are you going to get engulfed in wave upon wave of the furry little critters if you disturb their nest? Do they like people, or do they dive bomb and buzz passers-by with unmatched ferocity? (Gods help you if they excrete gold when they dive bomb you ... H'mm. "Alchemy Crows ...")

Lastly, list any special powers it may have, including typical flight speed if it flies, and whether or not it excretes gold. If you have to create a new power, write it down here.

Go for it.

Would it be a good idea to have a dedicated thread for environmental hazards such as poisons, diseases, traps, flesh-eating slimes, quicksand pits, exploding mushrooms, and the like? As a skill-oriented game, I've always thought that the various BRP / RQ variants provide excellent tools for designing these (although I note that the Legend rules say very little about traps at the moment - a curious omission....)

Slightly off topic but can somebody repost the efforts of these threads on a Legend web/wiki site? I would but don't have the site to post them to at this time.

You mean like this?

In case nobody remembers, Dan True's Ebberon has a bunch of good monster conversions in it. Although I doubt he's want them posted here in ones or twos. May he's like to post a list of them? I'd do it but it's his thunder, not mine.

I had to make up on the go the stats for a Wild Boar...so your general every day critters would be great!??? :)

I don't have the Monsters of Legend lol.

So had no idea there's one in there....but that was just one example anyway! :)

[EDIT] I Now do have the Monsters of Legend, as well as the Arms of Legend so yay me! :D

By the terrible power of thread necromancy, I conjure thee - O, sphinx....

I find the Monsters of Legend book decidedly lacking in the common and every day animals of Earth as is. I would like stats for all our native animals. Mongoose has lobbed them all under the moniker of "cattle", but what of Deer, wilderbeast, oxen, shire horses, rabid dogs, lock ness, yeti, leopards, lynx, tigers, lions.

The list could go on and on!!

Feel like helping out by conjuring an aboleth? Pretty please ...

I'll see what I can do. It's a while since I looked at the aboleth, but I recall that its got some pretty funky powers.

Thanks a lot, I am quite new with Legend and still need to properly understand the scaling of monsters vs. PCs!

I have a campaign in mind where the Boss is an Aboleth, pulling the strings with their Psionic powers. I am working, furiously, on a Sandbox Fantasy Campaign and want to use the Aboleth in the first Adventure Path.

Wow, it's nice to see some beautiful ASCII formatting.

Thank you!

The formatting used by these boards destroys statblocks, but I've figured out a way around it.
And pray tell, how is this accomplished? If it isn't too complex and is doable by folks with a 65% or less Computing Skill!

If you put stuff in a {code}(but with square brackets) tag, it shows the text in a font where all characters are the same width; which makes for easier lining ups.
