Let's see...what would be easilly deployable for the Russians? Thier Airborne forces (Airborne Assault Troops [VDV] ), right?
- VDV Squad
- BMD-4 / BMD-3M "BAKHCHA" Airborne Combat Vehicle
- Airbrone Command Squad (with BTR-D)

. Spetnatz are the best trained/experienced SF in the world today though. .

You'll find many people arguing that one with you, the SAS, the REP, many more

Yup, I will. I've had this argument before and it generally comes down to a couple of things.
Spetnatz do have more actual war experience (and harsher) than any other. They also have the most brutal training (because its less training and more a diluted form of war, casulties are high). However they lack training in modern methods and equipment as well as suffering criticaly small amounts of equipment, let alone SF kit. I'm not sure who'd win in an actual fight between competing SF though.

But surely a straight fight isn't the point. In a theatre of war, the role of special forces is to disable the enemies vital strategic assets - SCUD launchers in Iraq, an airfeild full of planes in the Falklands etc. Or in peacetime: hostage rescue, counter-terrorism.

And in all of those kind of missions, the best equipment is a significant factor. In fact think of famous special forces actions where poor equipment were a factor in failure - Bravo Two Zero, the Iranian embassy rescue etc.

Spetznaz may have undergone the toughest training and had more experience but they singularly and tragically failed at Beslan and the Moscow Theatre crisis.

It isn't, but you know that isn't going to stop people trying it out in the game :)

Which means the stats better be right! ;)

afaik spetznaz weren't deployed in Beslan, from what I remember there were OMON and Alpha units, but no Spetznatz at all.

Im an avid FPS BF2 game player.

Rest assured, the maps for it could be a sweet reference for the BF evolution. The game has me even more stoked then the SST game first did, on account that I NEED a good modern minis game.

Id rather have the game sooner, but ill be cool. A couple of great maps that would be absolutely tits up for the minis game would be Karkand, the Gulf of Oman, and Songhua stalemate. Id like to a good sniper team, some solid antiarmor units, and some SF units. Looked through a bunch of the threads and got a good feeling about the vibe. Any information on how to get some preorders into the system, or a few demogame kits?
Im interested in getting in on the ground floor of the BF game. I see it as an even hotter seller then SST. Any info would be apreciated.

I wasn't 100% sold on this game - too much time spent watching the news showing the human tradegedy of modern warfare and too many ill-thought out and poorly executed military operations these days.

However I saw the Toyota Hilux in S&P and I have an irrational love to puick-ups with guns mounted on the back. I love em' in AK47 Republic. I don't really know why, I just love 'em.

I hate the Hilux! It did not serve me well, take my word for it. Apart from that the MEA are my favourite force.

The main problem with the Russion force is just one of money.

Just like the Spetznaz cant get serious SF equipment, the Air force doesnt get the equipment theyd need for actual war.

The technology is there, the just dont have money to produce it at appreciable lvls.

The Ka-52 Hokum is a good Chopper.
Russions even have a fighter that can make a looping on a dime (or pretty close) but i forgot the designation.... :S

A Russion force that would actually have real monetary backing with the stuff they could already have today, Id play right away.

Honestly, I dislike the premise for the conflict. I don't know what would make a better replacement. You could recreate a WWI scenario. Where aliances and nationalism sparked a conflict. Some groups could be looking for a war because it would unite their people. Others groups might want to regain lost prestige. Some of the factions might have been part of a peace keeping force and are now forced fight their way out. I know its a few months away, but I would like to see a substantial background for the war, other than they found more oil and jackals are on the borders.

Navy seals.

As everyone else would be carpet bombed, cruised, appache'd and smart bombed just before they arrived.

Also, spetnatz suffer from having to get to the theatre of combat using public transport.

If it came down to one on one, mano-a-mano combat, then I'm not sure, which side gets Chuck Norris?

How come the Navy SEALS won't get carpet bombed to hell then?

I don't know wich side will win, but I'm sure they wouldn't fight man-to-man as SF's (most of 'em at least) have the acess to the newest gear their country can produce.

Well Navy Seals cant win then, when the enemy SF just took out their airfield .

SF versus SF practically wont happen in Real life. Well theres always the off chance that it might for some strange reasons.....

But it sure is gonna happen in BF:Evo, so they only need to get the stats right, the rest is up to the players ^^. And we know how well players can skew results.

Oh btw. I want to take Mister T on my team, of the other side gets Chuck Norris.

One on one, special forces vs special forces?
Whichever side decides to strap C4 to itself and run in screaming.
Not entirely sure what 'specialist equipment' you'd use to deal with that.

Other than that, the Israelis..... krav maga and a pointy stick are a match for anything the rest of the world has to offer :) Also, they have cornershot, so silly it's cool.
