No way the Abrams/Challengers/Merkavas were the best in that game! :D

Yes but Russians had style :D Nothing like company after company of tanks rumbling toward them :-)

Bloody Abrams just ruining that fun with their super-accurate tank busting weapons  After 100+ tanks were destroyed by not even dozen M1A2 abrams you got to wonder wether game was even close to realistic or are those A2's really that good

well the gulf war seemed to prove so! :D

how I miss that game!

Actually in the first Gulf War there was a turkey shoot between Iraqi tanks vs M1A1s...let's say a lot of US tank commanders were racking up kills, and the crews got orders to let the Iraqis bailing out of their tanks go.

russia in EF? no way  even if they would like to(as likely as US asking Brithish Queen to make them a colony again  ), they would have to be part of EU firts(i understand that's what the EF is-a European army of a sort), and tha's even less likely given how mr.Putin does everything he can to bring back the good, tested USSR methods.
the real reason there is no Federal Army in the game is that Mongoose took the realistic way, and all the equipment has broken down after first km out of the barracks

So,I haven't heard anything about the Russians themselves. Are they sitting this one out?

For the moment it seems. If they were included, they'd be part of the EFTF.

No way would Russia be in the EU forces! Russia would be a good one to cover though, have them fighting the Chinese or perhaps the EU over eastern europe...

Depends on economic factors....If they fold into the EU, EFTF would be the way to write it.

Otherwise, their only real out of country wanderings are the trips to the Caucuses

You can always base games in the cold war, you need to find other figures etc...
I have been playtesting the BFE rules " blackhawk style " with pickups and around 30 milta with aks and rpg`s, against around 16 us rangers.

Maybe the uk guys out there, we play some falklands games

If only AI had been good enough to offer even a bit of challenge :-/ Only time it offered any resistance was defence with big point advantage. It was particulary crappy in assault. There was that campaign in SP3 with Israel defending(modern tanks so not the Golan hill thingie) IIRC. Anyway I went for easy route and mined 4 hex deep area across the map.

Over 300 enemy tank destroyed, I lost only a bit of infantry due to his airstrikes. After turn 2 on my turns I just passed turn and started pressing Y on overwatch questions. Not that it would have mattered since stupid computer annihilated itself against that minefield.

After that I refused to use minefields against computer

Nah....those things can't possible exist ;)

Ooo..here's a interesting tidbit:
Since 1999 and as of June 2006, Argentina is the only Latin American country to maintain troops in Kosovo during SFOR (and later EUFOR) operations where combat engineers of the Argentine Armed Forces are embedded in an Italian brigade.

Probably not. Some of the veterans are still sore.

The heaviest vehicle they have in their army is a medium battle tank....

Still sore? you'd think the bruising would have gone by now.....

Well I was chatting to guys yesterday hoping to see Irish forces done, given that Ireland's heaviest vehicle is the Panhard 90.... (well they've got scorpions now too)

*coff coff*

Trust me they wouldnt. They have as much chance of getting in as Liberia does. Aside from the fact that 90% of Eastern Europe loathes and fears them Putin is bringing back the good old Soviet ways, rearming and alongside China promoting the interests of places like Iran.

In fact a decent Russian army is on the cards. They already have some of the best armoured vehicles in the world (including a few new ones that are better than anything else), mix that with nuclear weapons and they are deadly. The Russians fall down in that their troops are badly trained, conscripted and badly armed. Spetnatz for example have trouble getting their hands on night vision ger even today. Spetnatz are the best trained/experienced SF in the world today though. Russia also lacks helicopters, an air force, a Navy etc. Their only chance of getting anywhere is over land which limits them militarily.

Hmmmmm.....let's see...

Argentinian Expeditionary Force?
-Infantry squad
-Tanque Argentino Mediano (Argentine Medium Tank)
-Command Squad (with VCTP [Vehiculo Combate y Transporte Personal])

mix that with nuclear weapons
if they'll be so kind to even launch. i remember that some two years ago the russians have had some air-fleet manouvers, which included empty nuke missile launched from subs and land launchers(or was it bomber-launched...can't remember now, and the mag with the article is long gone)... the sub ones i think failed immediatly after the launch(and president P. was aboard that sub 8) ), and the land launched ones also managed to crash after flying some distance. i'm not saying that's the case everywhere, but if you have such ...mishaps in front of your President ist says something :?
