Babylon 5 Base Attack Bonus Question

Quick question for anyone out there experienced with the B5 D20 2nd Ed. RPG:

If you look at any of the class tables in the classes chapter... eventually a character gets high enough in level that the base attack bonus (BAB) is shown as 2 numbers.

Examine: A level 8 agent has a BAB of +6/+1

What does that mean? I understand where to use the BAB when it's just one number (when determining the close combat and ranged attack bonuses, not to mention the space combat gunnery and solo craft stats).

Does the number following the "/" have something to do with multi-classing?

It means you get two attacks. One at +6 and one at +1.

I think you have to do a full attack action to use both, IIRC.

I don't know about Babylon 5, but I do know about Conan. I'm guessing that the rules are similar or identical, since both are based on D&D 3.5E.

In order to do both attacks, you have to do a full action, which means you cannot move any more during the round than your five foot step. If you move and attack (more than your five foot step), you only get your main, +6, attack.

In Conan, a polearm with reach can be put to good use in robbing an opponent from using both attacks. For example, using a spear with a 10 foot reach, a character can attack from two squares away then use his five foot step to increase the distances between the two fighters to 15 feet. That means (since the oppenent occupies a five foot square, and there are 10 feet to cross to put the oppenent in base-to-base contact with the spearman) that the opponent will have to use movement to reach the spearman and therefore cannot use a full attack.

If the opponent is entitled to two attacks per round, he now can only use his main attack because a full action cannot be used.

This is not as important a maneuver in B5, I realize, because, likely as not, you're looking at ranged combat and not melee. But still, when a fist fight or armed melee comes up, it's a good tactic to remember.

Per Babylon 5 rule book
Second Ed
Faith Manages
Pg 173
Sub Paragraph 'Full Attack'
Paragraph first\

"If a character gets more than one attack per action because his attack bonus is high enough, because he fights with 2 weapons or is using a double weapon, the character must use full attack action to get his additional attacks. Thc character does not need to specify targets ahead of time. The character can see how earlier attacks turn out before assigning later ones."

So at least per the above stated reference a full attack mode is requried for multiple attacks.
