Babalon 5 ground war

Mr Evil

Mongoose
ok a while back there was talk of a land based version of B5 with tanks and flyers.

the game has fallen by the wayside

Mongoose have the minis

battle front and mongoose are on friendly terms.

solution

do a B5 book with army lists that use the Flames of war rules.

simple

Ugh, no...too complex for the style of games that mongoose publishes. I was looking forward to another clean, relatively simplistic system. Flames of war just doesn't work out well for me, and pretty much everyone else in my gaming area.

whaaa FOW is one of the easiest games ever

To be honest, I doubt it would get much play. Theres only a couple of space-based minis games systems out there and AFAIK ACTA is the only one currently being produced and supported. On the ground side, every game company and their grandma has a land based minis game system.

I'd much prefer Mongoose spent their time, effort, and money on improving an already established game system that is alone in its field rather than trying to create yet another land combat system. Mongoose's spread of their talent (and money) over so many supported games I think is the main reason things like the Sagi and lots of typos creep into ACTA in the first place.

We'll have to accept that ACTA will be on the back burner for awhile now too.
With Mongoose releasing BF EVO , which i'm glad to see if getting alot of interest, we'll have to be patient over here :)
Although when WWE B5 land battles does eventually appear, i hope its fully integretable with ACTA. :)

Evolution I can see happening. I've never heard of a current-produced modern arms game and it sounds like Evo may fit the bill. Same with VAS. FOW and others besides, theres no WWII naval combat game either. But another far-future land game seems kinda pointless.

Its its integrated with ACTA, the prospect of campaigns in Space and on Land i'd love to play.
I agree with you that it certainly won't attract alot of new players to Mongoose games.

That's because there are several good generic space games out there, most prominently Starmada and Full Thrust. There aren't really any industry standard generic ground combat games. (There also some small-scale games with active production and support, but nothing on Mongoose's scale.)

Not that I don't agree with your conclusion. The money is in miniatures, not the game system, so shoot for the under-served miniature market: spaceships. That people buy ACtA minis to play Full Thrust therefore ends up being a net plus for Mongoose.
