B5 VS Star Trek

Well since everybody else is posting the best to worst (please keep in mind that Sci Fi in the middle of farmer country is hard to sell (and please to feel free to picture the stereo type... it would be almost accurate). I am actually the only person here who HATES country music and cowboys. I was part of the grunge generation, but stopped wearing flannel when I found out the farmers thought it was cool.

1. BSG (the new one, not the Campy as can be original). I love the way they did this, everybody has "issues" though the commander of the Pegasus seems to be required to have more issues then everybody else. I love the way they handled the pegasus right up till it was destroyed. Hopefully Earth will not be stuck in a '70s pipe dream.

2. B5... its awesome. Some episodes really kept it from really flying though. Don't even mention season 5 to me.

3. Stargate SG-1 Love every episode.... its down here because its over....

4. ST:DS9 - started off weak, ended weird but in between seemed to be good.

5. Stargate atlantis - the retarded offspring of SG-1... no rewatchablility but if I miss an episode.... even if I have to aquire them by "other" means

6. Firefly - for the movie.... its great, but the series brings it down a touch

7. ST:TNG - its a classic, still a little too much "I have a huge gun, but lets see if we can't work it out"

8. Space above and beyond - Its a little too.... well... !^@*y for me, but when I was younger, it was good.

9.x-files - bored just thinking about it, but if theres nothing good on....

10. ST:TOS - Gawd no

11. Andromeda - So campy it could have been called the adventures of Hurcules in Space

12. Earth final conflict - good thing it was final, I don't ever have to hear about it again

13. ST: Voyager - What? the adventures of the munchken ship Janway way the heck down here? WHY WON'T THEY STOP PLAYING IT!!!

I might as well weigh in on the subject. I'll rank Science Fiction shows from best to worst (least favorite).

1. Blake's 7
2. Babylon 5
3. Farscape
4. Firefly
5. Star Trek Deep Space Nine
6. New Battlestar Galactica
7. Doctor Who (new and old)
8. Stargate
9. Star Trek

I put the rest of the shows like Andromeda, Earth Final Conflict, old Battlestar Galactica, and Space Above and Beyond kind of in their own category since they may not have been great overall but they may have had their moments or at least given us at least one good year.
As for B5 vs. Star Trek both shows are kind of a product of their time, up until DS9 Star Trek episodes were self contained and rarely did story elements carry over I think that competition from shows like B5 gave DS9 a drive to create better stories than what was churned out in the first two seasons.

I was combing this thread to see if anyone mentioned SAaB. Very cool even though you like it, hiffano  Gambling androids. Good TV military science fiction.

those bits were good - annoying incredably long and boring speeches ruined it for me................still it had good episodes.

Probably the best one-sentance summary of DS9 that I've read. The Dominion War was pretty damn cool. Man, I wish a minis game publisher would cover this (I bought a bunch of Trek micro machines on the cheap recently and will be using the Starmada rules to play out those battles and TNG/DS9 era battles in general).

ST: Voyager - What? the adventures of the munchken ship Janway way the heck down here? WHY WON'T THEY STOP PLAYING IT!!!

Its been showing here at 2 am on Spike. Star Trek at it's worst. 7 of 9 in a catsuit didn't make up for crappy stories.
