B5 Opportunity

So, not quite ACTA related, but I was checking Amazon.de the other day and they have a huge box set with every season and all the films outside of the lost tales for 79€. I think this is an amazing deal and I am really considering trying to convice the wife, but with a trip to a Battletech event (75€ for three days) and a new computer on tap, is it worth the effort and potential loss of one of these to get the (almost) complete B5 library?

What do you folks think?

If it's on Amazon.de, the first thing you want to check is whether it's in English or in German. :)

Personally I'd dump the Battletech event, but that's because unlike you I don't have enough interest in Battletech to consider spending 75€ to attend an event. What this means is that my priorities are different to yours, which caveat also probably applies to anyone else who answers here. :)

So, imagining I was in the same position but substituting some other event which I'd be willing to pay that sort of money to attend, I'd probably leave the PC for a year if possible. If the PC must be replaced soon then I'd probably take the chance that the B5 DVD's would be available next year, possibly not at such a discount but at least available. Postponing the PC has the advantage that next year you'll get a better PC for the same price and the disadvantage that it won't do you much good if your current PC is dead.

IMO only seasons 1-4, the Gathering and In The Beginning are worth having. Season 1 wasn't all that great, so clumping the films with that to bring it up to par, you're paying about 20€ per season. Pretty good price.

the "cheap" deal has been on Amazon uk for about 4 years now and i believe at latest check includes TLT as well. I should buy it really so i can enjoy Legends of the rangers all over again. . .

Tend to agree - once the Shadow War and Earth Civil war ended I lost interest.

I enjoyed Thirdspace.....you might say it was even "inspiring"

Well, to be honest, seasons 1-4 were all that Babylon 5 was supposed to be. Except JMS had to wrap up the Shadow War and chop up the whole Earth Civil war when they didn't know if the show would be picked up for a 5th season. Season 4 is really seasons 4 and 5 shortened down into one season :(

then bin some of the movies.... and parts of episode 1, and some of episode 5...and Lorien...
