Aslan Preview

Guessing you think the forum that-shall-remain-unnamed should concentrate on one digit in particular :D

"Digit" as in "number", or "finger"? ;)

What forum has the nasty people?

If you already don't know, then you don't need to know ;). Trust me, just hang around on this forum for all your MGT info, IMO there's a much higher quality of discussion here.

I concur with EDG.

For the vast majority of information and good conversation about MgT stay here at Mongoose.

There are some other forums out there, and most are just as OK as here but they don't discuss Mongoose's Traveller as much.

And then there was (is) one that was (is) very nasty toward MgT. Even though a few members there are more than OK, its the forum its self that can turn the nicest of people into the worst.

Stay here. Its better.

Concerning the base 8 it is only a minor issue. I agree of the added flavor, that is the intent, but to detail my opinion:
* I can't see it having an realistic effect in game (I don't find the trade example credible)
* They write 8 fingers, so naturally use base 8. That is soooo human like reasoning...
But it's not really worth so much talk.

I must admit I am amazed at theforumthatshallnotbenamed's capacity at holding onto the "sacred light of OTU". It's quite entertaining: "OMG, you cannot anymore make a X type PC specialised in Y, coming from the clan Z, the end is near!!!"

I showed Mrs Chef the drawings of the Aslan last night, please bare in mind she has not a clue what an Aslan is and she said, "oh are they bringing out Thundercats as an RPG?"

and with the Film in production could be a lucrative tie in!

Do you know how cool a Thundercats RPG would be? Very!
That brought up another thought. Why not have a Transformers RPG too, or He-man? I would work overtime just so I could buy every Transformers, He-man, and Thundercats RPG book.

One word: Licensing.

It would probably cost a lot of moolah to get those licenses (especially transformers, given the current popularity of the movies).

I wasn't interested in this suppliment until I saw the preview. Pretty cool stuff, especially the Trojan Reaches parts.

Though I did have to laugh at the dichotomy between "Aslan are NOTHING like lions! Nothing at all!" and "They eat very little except for freshly killed meat, the women manage things while the men hunt, they're highly territorial...".

It's almost as funny as claiming Humans act nothing like Apes and Vargr act nothing like Dogs.

AHHHHHHHHH !

THAT IS SO COOL !

The trojan reaches description ALONE is worth it for me !

WELL DONE GARETH !

Enjoyed the original CT Aslan!!! The preview for MGT's Aslan looks to be great. I also enjoyed the idea that the Aslan use a base 8 due to number of fingers. I though it also gave a bit towards their mindset. Will definatly be purchasing this item (actually will be purchasing any item set in OTU) but this really does look worth it's money. :D

Personally I think the whole "are they leonine or not" argument is ridiculous. It seems obvious that they're at least based partly on the big cats on Earth, and humans being what we are, if we see something that looks like a lion and acts like a lion then we're going to call it "leonine". I don't really care much for the attitude that they must be different for the sake of "being alien", as if that somehow validates them more.

Better to just make it a non-issue and present them as what they are. Then the people who care about it enough can bicker about it and the rest of us can just play them for what they are.

You could do a Transformers RPG using Mechamorphosis.

Isthis Aslan book supposed to be a module or an adventure?

It's a sourcebook. Covers the Aslan race and the Trojan Reach area. Similiar to the Spinward marches book in it's coverage of that area. But adding careers and the like for Aslan, where Spinward Marches covers some about the Imperium.
