Army of Light Refits and Other Duties

If the Army of Light is in a campaign, presumably its ships use the Refits and Other Duties tables of their respective fleets?

I haven't checked them all yet, but one of the Drazi Other Duties seems to be a problem, specifically "Green and Purple". This is where the Drazi have their idea of an election, in which everyone gets a green or purple sash at random, then proceed to kick the daylights out of each other until one side is declared the winner. A Drazi fleet in which this happens gets a -4 modifier to initiative for both campaign and battle until things are settled, after which the fleet gets a +2 initiative modifier. The rules for the Army of Light say that special rules for campaigns don't affect the Army of Light, but says nothing about Other Duties. However, I'd guess that this one also has no effect - the Drazi are only part of the fleet, the fight shouldn't affect anyone else's ships, and neither should the bonus when the fight is over. Would I be right in thinking that this one doesn't apply to the Army of Light and that if it comes up you just re-roll?

What about if you're playing a combined League of Non-Aligned Worlds fleet in a campaign - should you also ignore this result for the same reason?

You're quite right that the various races just use their own tables. I don't think there's anything specifically mentioned anywhere about AOL or LONAW fleets ignoring race-specific Other Duties results that affect the whole fleet, but I'd take the blanket rule that allows ou to reroll results on that table that can't be applied for some reason to apply here.

BTW, I found your Shadow Die behind the computer desk. Bug-free I might add

Thanks! And you're really going to hate Warbird 2... I didn't roll "Green and Purple" but was worried in case I did; it got a few good ones instead.

On the other hand, the G'Quan got "Ga'To Jutan Takeover", possibly the most useless Other Duty available for a G'Quan. One free "Concentrate All Firepower" per battle, on a ship whose weapons are beam, energy mine or twin-linked. And a few light pulse cannons, meaning it isn't 100% useless and I can't re-roll - it's only 99% useless.

Another daft one is "New Captain", which pretty well any fleet can get. The captain has done well enough to earn the XP's for the "Other Duty" roll, so he gets replaced. :? Well, I suppose it happened to Sinclair...

I don't think it's going to matter much what refits your fleet gets at this stage of the campaign, I've only got about 4FPs at Battle left and 1 Strategic Target. Next high PL battle I'm stuffed

Oh, regarding your original post, there's an entry in the AOL fleet section that seems to cover that sort of thing. After the allowed ship listings.

The only thing I can find there is the bit which says that special rules from one fleet don't affect ships from another and don't affect campaigns at all. I hope you're not suggesting that this means refits and other duties as well; since they affect campaigns, that would mean the Army of Light can't get refits or other duties at all. ;)

As I understand it, special rules are those which appear near the start of each fleet list. For example, the Army of Light can not benefit from Vree Conglomerate Backing.

More the bit about a mixed fleet not being able to benefit or be penalised by a special rule for one of it's component fleets. I think that would also extend to certain duties such as Green & Purple and similar, at least by implication.
