Army in a day....!!! crazy

but after seeing mats post i gave it a thought.. so after about a year plus of not holding a paintbrush !!!!! i went for it this afternoon, starting at around 4pm and finishing at 9:30 pm i managed to paint all my troops !!! while watching tv and making tea... god bless stargate and simpsons !!!

tommorrow i need to pic up some vehicles to make the 2k points up... and then il put pics up... so far impretty pleased... il aim to pick up soem pre painted ones.. :)

so has any one else attempted this army in a day yet.... ???

I'm planning on trying it out on Friday with about three dozen figures while watching Resident Evil 3. Keeping my tentacles crossed and hoping for the best.

I keep forgetting to go to the store and buy some "dip" for this. I can't wait for your pics, Evil, I remember your FoW soviet ISU's fondly.

cheers rabid... i have a russian force on the back burner to be started once my painting memory comes into effect.. its been to long :? each force is being capped at 2k

I'd say after Gencon Indy, I'll have many MC figures to paint. Although I hope to find lots of die cast metal vehicles. I want Bradleys and an A-10 so bad. :)

I used to do it with Airfix Napoleonics and ACW many years ago. In a decent day's painting I could, if I organised everything well and used a "proiduction line" approach, get a few hundred figures painted. I needed to be well motivated though, and had to amke sure there were no distractions.

I always regretted selling on those figures, and my 20mm WW2 stuff.

ok wished to do proper pics tonight.. but GF wishes to go to the boring ballooon fest !!!! geeshhhhh why cant i stay at home and play with my toys !!!!!

any way a quick pic i took on my mobile phone on the sneaky for you...

i painted the infantry but the armour is prepainted stuff...

better pics soon.

It took about 11 hours, but we did it. We've never tried this type of mass painting but it turned out well and got a bunch of 1/72nd figures done.

14 Security Police
19 zombie dogs (ala Resident Evil)
24 zombies

We certainly won't get any awards for it, and I'm sure the painting wizards on a few sites I know, would snicker and poo-pah the quality but it's better than half the 40k/Warmachine armies I've seen.

Now, to try this with some dinosaur figures.

I am waiting until after GenCon to try my army, mainly because I have to get the minis. But When I read the article it did give me hope that it could be done.

The store that I play at has a good mix of painting wsards and bare metal so it's not a big deal. *I* just think that painted armies win more. :)

I'll probably try this technique with my new figures for MC.

We got some space marine, eldar, orc, etc armies locally that have battle colors of black primer and reflective silver. :)

The army owners are pretty cool. About the only heat I've ever seen 'em get is from what I call "paint snobs". If your figures are Golden Demon quality, they nitpick. "You know, if give them a wash...." "That's nice, but if you try this..." "If you put the facial detail on those 6mm figures, they'd be a lot better."

Today, we're doing another 50 zombies and 20 grenadiers and 10 Tommies.

We get that too from the experts, but they mean it in the nicest way since we all slobber when we see their paint jobs :)

I've gotten much better painting by taking advice from them. I usually save my new skills for D&D personalities and not rank and file troops.

i try keep my painting to as few stages as i can, and the other stages i missed out i call pub time ....

biggest rule to every thing is KISS... keep it simple stupid... i pretty much apply this to everything, from painting to airsoft.

little update

started my Russians this evening over 50 infantry 2 tanks an armoured car... hust to start the force of.. took ages to build the arnoured car :( and have another to do very soon and a few more to order,,,

so time is now just befor 11 pm 5 hours later and cup of tea in hand im happy with progress ok so it wont be done in a day as i started in the evening...

but ive got all my infantry painted bar last 2 runs, basicly they need black boots and barrels and bases doing.... reason the boots and guns are not done is i have no black paint grrrrrr the stuff i though i had has all dried out !!!!! and i cant do bases till boots are done but that would have taken an hour to an hour and a half so maybe it would have been an army in half a day !!!!! ho hum.... the tanks and armoured car are done, just need some russian words on them to snazz them up...

hope to get pics tommorrow might not be able to finish them as im supposed to be using them in a game that evening so will need to have dry bases... and thats the bit that takes longest to dry... this is going to be an ongoing project as i intend to max out on armoured cars as i go along, so far i have 2 i need to buy 3 more to fill all the slots i can have currently :D

I hear ya. I had 20 grenadiers primed and I realized I didn't have ANY grey paint. Talk about irksome. Had plenty of black paint though. :) I 'll give ya a bottle.

Primed another 20 yesterday with gray primer. Now, too pant the boots black. :)

lol i feel your pain, i sat down and built my second BA 64 armoured car today and found some black paint !! yay.. ok its the rubbish stuff you get with ROBOGEAR but for boots it would do.. so now all my infantry are done and based for tonights game.. went to sprey the armoured car to paint it up and pooooffff the sprey ran out on first side ... !!! so resorted to using the rubish black i have... but its finished now and based so pics soon...

ok figs where put out on the table today for a game, not all the minis ive painted are there about a hand full are missing from pics,,, but game tonight was cancled so pics are without terrain sorry..

each of these forces took under 8 hours to complete...

il work out points later and edit this post possably, but i recon the germans are a tad under 2k.

germans first as i did them first as a warm up into the world of paining again !! by the way all the vehicles came ready painted... for the germans.

Huh? What do you mean? Need only 2? There's never such a thing as too many tanks!

Keep 'em coming!
