Hi Locutus ,
first ... Thanks for a constructive answer !

1) I never said 'learn to play', my point is that a few fleets (especially the shadows and Minbari) used to have what most of the time amounted to an 'I win button'. In the Minbaris case alot of players just sailed forwards firiing and hoped their opponents failed stealth. In the shadows case you could maneuver completely at will and if the enemy got you in a bad way you could run away at full speed and STILL fire back at them and never had to wory remotely about ship facing to hit them at all.
Sorry for this - yes, you never said that directly
I agree to you - the turret on the Shadow-Ship was to good-to-be-true and a no brainer. It's ok that it's gone but i think that the current version is a little bit weak ( to be polite ) for a Armageddon ship.

2) I was merely suggesting that people should spend more time discussing different tactics and ways of using their fleets rather than just spending it all complaing 'this has been weakened and so my fleet sucks now because I have to use it differently'. I COULD go on for hours and suggest alternate tactics but this thread was not about that so avoided it (I will however start an Armageddon Minbari Tactics thread in a minute as Im more than happy to back this one up

)
Thank you for this !

3) Im not the one who started the cinematic effects thing

I was in fact trying to get at the point that you cant really justify using cinematic effects to defend the turreted beam.
Agree on this one with you. I would even say that it is difficulty to justify many things regarding the cinematic effect generated by the showmakers.
Cinematic is not about game balance it is about
"let's try to make [enter ship name] cool !"

4) I actually agree with you about the shadow ship not being tough enough and your right as it stands youd have to be totally NUTS to take one over 2 hunters

. Personally I say give it a GEG rating, after all the Drakh ARE shadow thralls and shadow ships are frequently seen to 'abosorb' damage without any ill effect

GEG 3 or 4 would make it a VERY scary opponent indeed (maybe even a bit higher given how ancients take damage though Im catious of making it truly unkillable)
That's a tricky thing to get a balanced version. GEG 3 or 4 is a mighty defence system ( like seen on the Drakh Cuiser, Carrier or Mothership ). But the Drakh take damage in a different way. 3 or 4 points of damage is not very much for the ancient damage system.

5) Lastly I know of course that you were being sarcastic but for the record Sun Tzu's advice is by and large very VERY vague and general almost TO the point of saying 'learn how to fight and use tactics'
Yes, that's true but i believe that you also know that it is what stands between the lines that makes Sun Zu's work and many other taoistic writings what they are. It's not that clear and easy as for example Clausewitz's
On War. A single staement from Sun Zu could be interpreted ( and was ) in many ways.
Old version ...
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles; if you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle.
Modern version ...
If you know both yourself and your enemy, you will come out of one hundred battles with one hundred victories.
A more modern interpretation ...
One hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the most skillful. Seizing the enemy without fighting is the most skillful.

But I digress. The new shadow ship is a tad weak but I disagree strongly with anyone who says it should go back to turret. As for Minbari, other thread coming shortly, watch this space
Same for me so back to the topic ...
I will support you regarding the Shadow Ship & turret. It's gone and that's ok.
I will watch and Thanks again for the constructive response :!:
