Are those prices true?

So, the new S&P is out today and after reading if looked at the price list at the end. After looking at it, if found out that most prices are app. 50% of the current prices on the homepage.

So, which prices are correct? The one from S&P seem appropriate while the ones on the homepage in most cases really overpriced. A Sagittarius up form 8.95 to 17.9? That's a price hike of 100% !

Speaking of which...

I just shot off an email to Mongoose on this, but I figure I may as well ask here also...

My local Games store wants to carry Babylon 5: A Call To Arms, but their usual distributors can only come up with the Fleet Boxes and the Books.
It's kind of hard to get someone new to start playing when you have to tell them, "You have to spend $100 to buy a fleet. Can't get the individual ships here."

Anyone know of any distributors who can supply the blister packs? Or does everyone have to go straight throught Mongoose?

I have bought from FRP games in Calif. and The WarStore. FRP tends to have a little better stock but both are very good and priced competively. The War Store in on the east coast. Hope this helps.

Hello,

I own a game store in Monterey, California, USA and have been trying to stock ACTA. Except for some of the new boxes and a few of the old packs, none of my distributors (including Alliance) carry ACTA miniatures. Also, from their comments to me, they don't intend to expand their offerings.

This was very frustrating to me, since had been planning to start stocking ACTA as soon as the 2nd edition came out...

I finally contacted Mongoose directly. They were very nice and helpful. I should be getting my first shipment from them soon. If your local game store is having trouble getting the miniatures, tell them that Mongoose offers good terms with no minimum order to established businesses and they have a shipping facility within the United States. Hopefully, this will allow your local store to carry this great game.

I have exactly three choices to order ACTA.

1. LGS - full MSRP and I can get the stuff in usually within a few days (Alliance is his distributor)

2. TheWarStore - Decent discount, stuff usually comes in a week to a week and a half.

3. Magic Lilly Pad - local online store. Significant discount, but their distributor will only special order, and it's at least two weeks before it comes in.

It's hard to get ACTA especially with alot of the American distributors are not carrying it. When did the prices go up? It's already an expensive game.

It would be good to know which prices are true, as the guys from my local gaming store have already begun to complain about the prizes as they are on the homepage

well distributor wise, my LGS uses esdevium, although i believe their may be "changes" in the way ACTA is distributed, Wing commander will be able to advise more on that though

If the prices from the homepage are currently true, I won't be buying anything new for ActA sometime. I simply won't pay 18 $ for a ship which costed 10. The price are hillarious, in some cases even more expensive than another space combat game from another company from England.

from, looking, it seems only the odd EA ship that has jumped up in price, the narn for example are fully equivalent in GBP to what they have been for some time, with the odd increase. the $ price seems to have finally fallen in line with the GBP price, which is probably making it look bad, but the UK price was always more expensive for some odd reason.
no-one ever said gaming was cheap, in fact in terms of books and suchlike, it is actually a pretty pricey hobby.

Gawd... I can't even get ships. I use the WarStore alot and he can't get me more than a fraction of what I ordered. Now the price increase. Hell, can't win for losing....

There's definitely something wrong with Mongoose's distribution now. Further, are they pricing themselves out of already an competitive miniature gaming market?

This is really only in the US. First, our models _are_ available to the distributors. Second, the Dollar is very weak at the moment, which has elevated the prices across the Atlantic.

If your store (or you!) is having trouble stocking our models, get them to give us a shout or, alternatively, drop us a line with their contact details and we will help them out.

How often are you adjusting your US Dollar prices based on the conversion rate?

you see, at this point, I have to say, Mongoose are a UK company, yet since I have been buying they have been CHEAPER in the US, so you can't really complain now can you!

A couple of months ago, we did it for the first time in six years! Unless there is another sharp rise or decline, I don't expect another adjustment will be done any time soon.

I can see an increase based on metal prices and also the dollar falling in value. My concern is that you take a model like the Drakh lt cruiser or the fast destroyer. They have very little detail and not as much metal as say the EA Nova and they are priced the same. It just doesn't seem you are getting the same value. I still love the game and will continue to buy models, it just doesn't seem that some models should cost as much do to the amount of metal or the amount of detail.

I wasn't actually complaining hiff. But as Animus said, you have to be careful about pricing your product out of the market. For example, a tank for Flames of War costs between $9 and $11 US. As other than GW, Flames of War is prob. one of the most popular games in the US, B5 ACTA has to fight for the limited purchasing power of the average US gamer. If the price point of ACTA gets too high, you will lose players to other game systems. Just my 2 cents.

Dave

oh indeed, but for comparisoon, a Panther A for example costs £6.50 here, thats about $13 in the US so you are saving money on them ;-)
