Are the printing errors corrected for books 1-13?

Hi there. New to the forum, long time LW fan.

Have been reading through the LW posts I was wondering if it was safe to start buying the books now? Seems to be a lot of topics regarding the errors in the new books and £10-£11 plus delivery is a lot of money per book, especially if they are "faulty". Would be really keen to start but I don't want to take the chance if there are still issues. Rather worrying the amount of disgruntled customers I have read about.

As an aside, has the quality of the actual bindings, spines, pages etc been improved as well?

Could anyone here or indeed from Mongoose ally any fears I may have, or should I save my money?

Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

We have corrected problems as we have reprinted, and you will find the binding to be excellent!

OK, thanks. That's great to hear!

I've ordered the first one and was wondering do you ship from the USA or is it within the UK? Only ask as I understand that the printing is done in the US.
Also, are there plenty of books 1-13, as when I looked on Amazon for example it said they were unavailable? Would like to get the complete collection over time.

Thanks again.

We ship from both the US and UK, but these books are available only directly through us - they won't appear on Amazon.

Well I just received my Flight From The Dark and I have to say I am hugely impressed! Really excellent quality all round. The paper has a lovely texture and the illustrations are a lot better than I was lead to believe. I am very impressed. Can't wait to start playing it.

Well done Mongoose!

The new Flight from the Dark is more than just a reboot to the story, it is also a great sourcebook to what the Kai was like in the glory days.

My apologies, but I must contest the point made in this post. My purchase was made on July 22. The books I received all contain printing errors. They have NOT been fixed.

Can you check the printing date in the book just to be sure ?

That's a good point. And also, its possible that new errors are being found all the time so may not have been included in any reprint!

Yeah, I can check that when I get home. At work right now. I'm sure that some of the errors have been fixed, as I heard of a missing section in Book 3 which appears in my copy, but they are not error-free. I would consider them faulty, the word OP used.

So far I have encountered:
-Both missing and incorrect equipment lists.
-Incorrect section links.
-Incorrect Action Charts.
-An entire section bolded.
-Missing sections from the rules area.
-Some of the mini adventures seem broken. One features the player, with a CS of 10-19, fighting an enemy with CS 28, for a -18 to -9 combat ratio. I'm wondering if there was not a mistake in the rules section for that one.

It's mostly stuff mentioned in the sticky at the top of the board. Perhaps I was wrong to say they contain printing errors, as I'm not too sure what qualifies as a 'printing error', but they do contain errors.

The physical condition of the books, however, is very nice. They are well made with strong paper and I have noticed no spine issues in my copies. The content just needed more quality assurance and playtesting.

Edit: At home now. No printing date is listed in the books.

I feel the need to defend mongoose a bit here.

Recently I have been playing the original Red Fox books and have become somewhat annoyed at the errors in those books. Check out projectaon and you will see that each book has dozens of errors in it - and these should be absent from the mongoose books.

For example, I only found out recently that Vampirium is impossible as written due to a fatal puzzle description error. Then there is the dreaded riddle of Shamath in book 16. Not to mention the awful balance of several fights (Zakhan Kimar, the Chaos Master etc etc). If I had the choice I would gladly have taken a few silly printing typos and swapped them out for the corrections and balance fixes in the mongoose series.

"The last guy screwed up too" isn't much of a defense. I don't want to start are war though. OP wanted to know the condition of books if he ordered, I just let him know the exact date I ordered and the condition of the product I received. Now OP can decide if this purchase is worth the price it charges, considering the errors it contains.
