Arachnid Fluff Discussion

Come on Max - that's just a whole lotta greenstuff with some metal bits. You can do that! :)

Checked out your Duel Masters Deathblade Beetle for bits and decided it was a good idea but not one I'll actually do. As can be read in other topics, I'm an AvP fan and since I already have intentions of modifying the new Aliens Queen for better game play (no clicky crap bases!) I'll just use her for any Queen I should need.

Now the reality of it... how often will any of us actually field a Queen?!

:D That is true, probably cost about the same in green stuff as it would to buy it though lol.
Still it's always usefull to get some practice making wormbodies, Im constantly amazed by how often they're needed.

Incidently am I the only person who thinks the Arachnid queen artwork in the armybook is so far from the mark that it would have been better to have no pic at all? (Not thast theres alot to go on appart from a possible glimpse at the end of the cartoon...)

Anyone have a screen capture?

Here is a sketch from the trooperpx site, and I'll work up several screen caps for study.

Thanks! This looks a lot like the Army Book.

Here are reference photos for your modding pleasure... :D

FANTASTIC! These are just what I need! Thanks Bu!

So, I think the top pic, the sketch in the other pic, and the one in Army Book are all pretty similar.

Just how big is that Transport?!

I think even if you would have mistyped your question as Just how bug is that Transport?! it still would have worked, you know! . To answer your question though, I'd guess around 50' in height when compared next to the Queen (just guessing). Another guess as to length might be just over a hundred feet based on length to height proportions. In the Trackers episode (sort of bonus material included on the DVD pack) there is a space battle with the Valley Forge. The sides open up some slots (boarding/exit holes) and "attack" pods are expelled towards the Roughneck's ship. Then the giant wings open on the transport's top and reveal an entire arsenal of Plasma Bugs used as naval artillery. I'd like to think the pods I just mentioned might be like Babylon 5 breaching pods, as they never fire but just move towards the human ship. The only other thing they could be would be explosive as like torpedo or missile weapons. This is the best example in any of the various media on the Arachnids as to possible naval combat techniques. Now with what I just said about scale, I was basing my guess off of the cave when the Queen escapes. When you see the bug transport in space especially with a pile of huge Plasma bugs it should be much much larger, in the hundreds of feet long (oh well). Maybe due to the vacuum of space it bloats up a lot (PSB explanations are fun, you know!) .

Na... The Queen Egglayer 2 is the Queen Private Shuttle Bug which docks on the Transport Bug... :D

It's funny Bob, as that occured to me as a possibility after seeing how those "torpedoes" look alot like a small transport, heh. Economy of design I would venture, eh?

The BlackTreeDesign Revok queen might do at a stretch... on sale at the moment to.

Of even more interest is the free samples they're offering!
Just send a self addressed envelope and they'll send you a sample from the range of you're choice (You can't specify a specific miniature though), so its a really good chance to see how those Revoks look in the flesh :D
