AoD for Pre-dreadnoughts?

Hi all,

A friend recently aquired a few sets of rules for WW1 naval games and lent me his copy of AoD to look over. They look like a fun so we thought we'd give them a go. The slight issue is that we have few actual dreadnoughts and lots of pre-dreads, so I'm interested if anyone has tried using these slightly earlier ships exclusively and if there are any modifications they'd suggest.

I know there are some Pre-dreadnought stats in the book already, so I'm guessing they should be fine but if anyone has already tried it and can chip in with some words of wisdom that would be great.

Also, has anyone already worked out stats for any of the earlier ships?

Cheers,

Trev

Its on the "To Do" list - a Russo Japanese war variant (possibly also covering the Span-Am war) including a campaign system. I'm plugging through the AOD supplement at the moment, but some of the RJW stuff is in prep at the moment as well.

Thanks for the heads up David. That'll be one to look forward to. I don't suppose you'll have done it by next Wednesday though, so I guess we'll have to wing it for now. Shouldn't be too hard to work out something decent by comparing the stats in the book with my 1905 copy of Jane's.

Cheers,

Trev

I'm afraid doing it by Wednesdasy will be a tall order :) Let us know how it goes though - could be some useful pointers for the future.

Hi all,

Apologies for the slow comeback on this. Anyway, we did try out AoD using just pre-dreadnoughts a few weeks back and it went rather well.

I've done a short write up and linked to our ship sheets, which you can see on my blog here.

Cheers,

Trev

Thanks for the write-up Trev. Most encoyraging, and you'll be pleased to know that the new ships you generated accord very well with the stats I've been working up for the supplement :)
