Hello all, I'm starting a campaign soon and am considering swapping out Jump for Warp Drive. Has anyone else tried this? Does this break anything important (other than crossing the 'that's not Trav' line?).
Depends how fast your warp drive is. If ships and communications can travel at FTL speeds that are much faster than 1-6pc per week, then it's going to cause some issues with the OTU setting (whose main premise is that interstellar comms are slow, and no faster than the speed of travel, which is 1-6 pc/week - and more to the point that no matter how may pc you can cover, each jump always takes a week).
I'll take a look at the book again, but I was planning on the overall movement rate ending up fairly similar (Warp-1 working pretty much like Jump-1 in re distance covered) just mainly using less fuel over all.
Also there are story reasons for the change, like unpleasant consequences for staying too long in warp-space.
