Ambushing warrior bugs

Mr Benn

Mongoose
Hi folks,
I have a few questions on ambushing bugs as I have a few spare points to spend (not that I'm planning to use them in my next game or anything - whistles innocently  )

Does a newly placed ambushing warrior bugs get to react immediately, say in response to a just completed action? I assume they do, hence the "ambush" part of the name.

Can they carry carrion bugs?

Can Big, Fat, Smart bugs such as brains or overseers take command of ambushing warriors?

1. Yes they can reveal and react.
That's why they are called ambushing Warrior Bugs, not hidden Warrior Bugs.

2. I don't think they can get Carrion as they are a special Command Asset (you could say special subspecies) not a typical Warrior Bug.

3. Yes Command Bugs can take Command of any Bugs in their Command range.

Unfortunately that's a no to number one.....they have to be revealed already to react. That's from MSprange as I asked the same question.
So they can be revealed at the end of an action, but they won't get to react as they 'weren't on the board' when the action was completed.

That's kinda odd, but it doesn't harm them much.
Reveal in your turn (this isn't an action so the enemy can't react) charge and strike.

If you reveal in your turn... they can't do anything as they are out of command unless part of a swarm.
Pretty pointless really, unless you use a brain to take control of them, in which case the brain has to follow the same orders and you waste his turn (and he stays above ground).
Not worth risking a brain for the minimal damage a warrior can inflict really.

In this case they are completely useless and you can drop them out of the army book.
Mongoose should do something here.

They are OK though....... if you reveal them next to a unit, that unit has to waste an action on taking them out. If they are in cover the MI might even have to jump and waste a whole turn on one 25 point warrior. They are OK in conjunction with infiltrators too.

Don't reveal them too soon, wait until MI are within point-blank range. This way they'll at least spend an action to fire at a single warrior. In worst (best? for the bugs at least) case somebody will be caught into the firezone, maybe even getting down to friendly fire.
