All Hits go to the Head...

Due to some kind of ridiculous fluke of the dice, every attack that has happened in my Legend game that doesn't involve a choose location manoeuvre hits you in the head. When the players roll to hit a location they always roll 19-20 for humans, or 17-20 for animals with big heads, or whatever. When the enemies attack the players? 19-20 again.

So, with my Legend group, all of the players are now going out of their way to try to wear the most armoring helmets they can afford, because apparently all attacks hit you in the head, and they've already almost lost two players from it.

Thought I'd share, because its kindof funny.

The dice are simply trying to tell you what soldiers have known for millenia :)

That is funny. I've had similar experiences where a session or two would work out that way.

Years ago, I ran a Harnmaster Campaign for a while, which, if you aren't familiar with it, has a more detailed hit location chart and one of the characters would invariably, seemed like 2 out of every 3 hits, get nailed with a groin shot. No one else, just him, and to add insult to injury, I started letting the players roll the dice, and he'd STILL get hit in the groin. Just fate, I guess.

Oh yeah, I remember the days of playing Aftermath! and everyone aiming for a "shot in the twelve" - the location depicted by the codpiece-like bulge on the armor diagram on the character sheet.

If nothing else, this mad dash for full iron helms will help keep their money in check for when the wounds migrate out to the arms, and instead of dead, they wind up with missing limbs they failed to armor...

Heh! :D I remember playing RQ2. We had a house rule about holding a shield over a location to protect against incoming arrows. My character ended up in a situation without his armour or shield, holding only a club, being targetted by an archer. I asked the referee if I could hold the club over my crown jewels. Taking pity on me, he allowed it, rolled the dice, and sure enough the arrow thudded into the defensively held length of wood...

Ask any Gurps player and you will hear many a tale of the random hit locations always coming to a leg shot...
Also, don't your dice seems a little... loaded?

Do you keep your dice near you when you play Counterstrike?
Boom! Headshot!
Dice are well known to take over the habits of their masters...

Lol. I've never really been one for FPS. Though I just might start yelling BOOM! HEADSHOT!

You'd think, but I've tried a couple d20s, and it happens whenever the players roll their dice too. All the monsters hit the players in the head, and all the players his the monsters in the head. Its been a really weird fluke.

The only exception was the time a player got pushed down a flight of stairs and I ruled he took 4 *attacks* from the flight of stairs. He got a broken arm, a broken leg, and a sprained ankle.
