All About Miniatures "Realism" House Rules

A few months back a Wisconsi-based podcast called "All About Miniatures" did a review on VaS. All in all, their review was quite positive; they felt the game was easy to learn and quite playable. However they felt that there was some glaring issues with how the game simulated real life naval combat particularly how the ships turned (They claim battleships should be much more maneuverable than the game portrays them), how torpedoes worked, and a few other issues.

Rather than just crap about what they didn't like the guys at "All About Miniatures" came out with a list of house rules that they say helped clear up these inconsistencies for them:

What do you guys think. Do you think they make a good point and do these rules help, do you think they're just being nitpicky, or something in between?

Some good ideas - I obviously have no issues with "house rules" since my VAS page has a load as well :D

I think DM's house rules are a bit better. The wisconsin house rule about turing, with the template effectively makes all turns for all ships the same 30 degrees, which is sort of the opposite of thier premise.

I use DM's house rules, but I allow ships to stop if they want, and I use a more accurate fire arc indicator.
