Alien books

Hasn't been started yet, to be honest. Strong contenders would be either K'Kree (we have had an awesome idea on how to portray them :)) or a book on Minor Races.

I'm torn - K'kree and Hivers are so very alien that I've yet to run into any in a game prior to this. But does that mean they're less interesting as a possible alien module? Or that we need just such a module to spur interest in playing them?

The Miner Races? Are those the ones who get us all the ore needed to keep the fleet maintained, dilithium for the Star Fleet warp drives, etc?

Just had to ask..

Matt - K'kree!!! None of those sectors has been fully written up in a "canon" style fashion. Please! :)
I've often seen posters cry for new sectors. The Solomani Rim has been mapped. K'kree please :)

No, the Minor Races are the ones that haven't come of age yet, and need another race standing in loco parentis to them...

I'm not too fussed about minor races myself but I will add another to my wishlist:

1 K'kree
2 Hivers
3 Vilani

The Vilani have never (barring very old and unobtainable forbidden canon) had their own book and it could add a lot to the setting

(in fact you could make Vilani number 2 on my list)

I'll second the motion for a Vilani book. Optimally I'd like it as Alien Module 6, that way we have Zhodani, Solomani, and Vilani in a row... :D

That one is Droyne. Already in the works.

Oh K'kree! Skittish, paranoid and aggressive vegans who can't stand meat eaters in a universe of meat eaters. Tell me there is no antagonist material there!

Hivers are the Vulcans of the Traveller universe, very intelligent, underhanded and manipulative. They are better at being partners than opposition so I'll take them second after K'kree.

Again and I vote for K'Kree and the Luretiir!girr sector. There's no official or unofficial data for the sector to my knowledge.

Hivers can at least be played in an otherwise normal Traveller game. K'kree not so much, unless you play one of the crazies they train for isolation and close spaces.

Because they are often portrayed as intractable, any book on the K'kree should discuss using them as "area effect" NPCs, aka "the angry neighbors", aka "the ever present threat of genocide".

We spend a lot of time making these races "playable", but sometimes you just have to back away and make someone the default villain and provide instructions for that type of use.

I'd like a "Humaniti" book that covers Vilani and all the myriad strains of mankind living in and around the Imperium. I choose that area because it fits with the "Nationality" theme of the other Human "alien books". You should get some chargen rules for the various geneered humans, along with some major cultural backgrounders (Vilani being a large and obvious "alien" human culture, at least from most players' perspectives) and maybe a few equipment sections for less generic items to spice up a campaign. ("Wait, is that a Jonkereen schi-knife? I'll trade you my favorite Barb!aluut suit for it!")

I'd also like a "Minor Races of the Imperium" book that gives the the Mewey, Bawapakerwa-a-a-awapawab and others a fair shake.

Very true . The GURPS did a good one on both the mminor races and the Human minor races . But I personally disliked GURPS but liked the source material . I guess i was weird on that point .
