I'm not sure anyone else has just come out and said it, but there are balance problems between the patrol level aircraft between the two theatres.
In this comparison I will use PPP as Per Patrol Point, as I am sick of typing it.
P-39 Aircobra - 4 PPP
Fulmar - 3 PPP
DF, Dodge and target identical. Aircobra has an extra point of damage and goes 27 in vs 19 in.
Concluson: Air cobra should be more expensive than the Fulmar.
P-40 Kitty Hawk - 3 PPP
Fulmar - 3PPP
Dodge, target and dogfight identical, P-40 has two damage and has speed 25 vs 19.
Conclusion: Kittyhawk should be more expensive than the Fulmar.
Closer to home:
Dewoitine D.520 4 PPP
Fulmar 3PPP
D.520 has better everything except damage. DF +3 vs +2, dodge 2+ vs 3+, Target 6+ vs 5+, speed 24 vs 19.
Conclusions - you should get four Fulmar flights per patrol point. The D.520 should be dropped to 3 flights per patrol point.
The P-39 Aircobra should be dropped to 3 per patrol point.
Mustang - 3PPP
Spitfire - 2PPP
Dogfight identical, damage identical, target identical, dodge identical, Mustang is speed 33 vs Spitfire speed 24. Given the maximum operational speed of the Mustang is about 437 mph and the Spitfire Tropical Vb is slower but the IX is significantly faster.
Whatever spitfire mark the Mongoose stats are based on (and the figure suggests a late Merlin rather than a Griffin engine) the speed on the Mustang is unrealistically high. The basic value for speed seems to be a 1/20 scaling from inches movement/Speed mph. That would put the Mustang at 660mph, a speed it never acheived.
Basically the Mustang should be speed 22.
This however throws into doubt the speeds on the rest of the American aircraft speeds. The Airacobra has a speed of 27in but the P-39 had a maximum rated speed of 376 mph and the P-400 (a later development of the design) a rated speed of 400 mph. This would give is a speed of 18-20.
Have the American fighters been subjected to a different equation for speed, as it seems more like 1/15 as opposed to 1/20.
Needless to say the Mustang should be 2 per patrol point.
Should I go through all the aircraft? Is this something already addressed in the expansion?
