Age of Dreadnoughts Nears Completion

I though a few readers here might like to know that I submitted the final draft of Age of Dreadnoughts to Matt late last night. :)

I've already done one, but Matt didn't like it (it changed considerably from the VAS system to the point where it was completely different) so I posted it to my website instead. Still, not wasted since another publisher has seen it and wants me to develop it for them.

I would take another go at an AoS version but only if Matt wanted me to, and I have a feeling he's decided to do that himself.

Hi

In my club we are using a version of VaS for the age of Sail, qith some home rules and some rules "inspired" from other rules sets.
It is a really bloody game, with really fun and fst battles, being really difficult to destroy a ship with gunnery or boarding it, but with an interesting historical taste.

The rules will be soon in our web page, written in spanish.

Just one question, as far as I know, it was said in the forum thet the rules will cover only the first world war, but will later cover the russo-japanese war and the spanish-american war.

What fleets will be covered in the original book?

Original fleets submitted to MGB are the British, German, Russian and Turkish (oh, and the US ships attached to the Grand Fleet in 1918). I'm working on French, Italian and Austrian at the moment. I've also started putting together the material for the RJW.

only if Matt wanted me to, and I have a feeling he's decided to do that himself.

matt just contacted me and said he's tied up with other projects and so he'd like me to think again about an age of sail version. I am working on it now. :)

And you shall have it - just not immediately, thats all :)

I've been travelling a lot in the US this past week (currently lakeside in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) and I've managed to scope out several conceptual approaches to gunnery, movement, boarding etc. that remain as close to the original VAS mechanics as possible. I just need some time to sit down and type them up then we can begin to crack this one seriously.

Are you going to be anywhere near the Southeast part of Idaho? If so, let me know, as I'd be happy to treat you to dinner.

As ever DM if you need a proofreader, the offer is here

It shouldn't be too far off being ready for a first look by the "outside world", at least not the history, rule variants and campaign system side of it. The ship stats will take a while, but I have afew work trips coming up and thhey are good times to plug through stuff like that.

As and when DM, you have my home email still ??

if not drop a line here and I will mail you

Not yet. Don't expect anything for some time. From memory it took a while to get OOB set up. Once the draft PDF is done I'll have to review it to check for errors, and I've already been advised by a late-submitting reviewer of the original material that some minor changes are needed (Matt - pleae note :) ). I'd not wish to hazard a guess as to how long the process would atke but I wouldn't be surprised if it was at least several months.
