yeah destroying buildongs will be a anti comand squad tactic i recon

You really do silike Command squads don;t you Evil? At least until your army gets one eh

I'd like to meet an opponent who whole heartedly embraces the enemy command squad. I'm pretty sure that some air units and special forces groups will be dedicated to taking out at lesat one member of the command squads in every battle. Failing that just leveling the buildings until you find them. Evil's dead on with his prediction I think. Unless you create a justifiable cause rule.

I was just commenting. I mean as an EFTF player, my Command squad doesn't do much against mass Shadow assault (my only doubles tournament loss). I have to watch out for PLA anti tank squads and Fedayeen. (I was very careful against them, and got insanely lucky, killing 7 of 8 Fedayeen in the Technical I destroyed.)

Every army has something in it I don't like to be up against up to and including Wave 2. But a lot of focus seems to be on the EFTF command squad as being uber unbalanced. From my personal POV, the Shadows are way too cheap, but I accept that not everyone agrees with that POV and that Mongoose are probably fairly certain that they got the points values right within reason. With future releases, any imbalances there are will likely smooth out. I'll figure out how to beat those Shadows yet, but I don;t think it's necessarily to do with game balance.

I mean if the Command squad was so uber unbalanced, would Low Roller and I have so heinously lost our first gamne at the tourney, I mean we had 2 of them in our combined armies, and Evil will tell you, his Shadow dice rolls were below average for the game, so it's not like dice luck was against us. our tactics remained practically constant from game 1 to game 3. Our terrain was identical, the only change was our opponents, yet we maxed out points wise in all our later games.

No worries LBH. I'd assume a warrior would be pretty good at handling a shadow or two (up to 6 D10 *and* up to 9D6 in a single shoot action) add two to three of them and those shadows should shatter pretty quickly. It's just over two shadows to a warrior.

how do you get 6d10 AND up to 9 d6 in a single shoot action from a Warrior? in a single turn, with Command squad support yes, assuming you go for Shoot actions three times in a row)

but at 250 points (factoring in the Command squad cost), that's almost 4 shadows.Statistically, 3 of them would get an outright kill on the warrior and 1 can take the Command squad Lt or Radioman out.

Warriors are one of the best things the EFTF have at taking out Shadows, but they are by no means equivalent in combat, a Warrior can't kill any tank in the game outright even if it's in the open, a Shadow has a chance at any of them, assuming they don't hide in cover

But that's all a digression from whatever point this thread was about, and even the one about Command units being overcosted.

Sorry should have written a turn. Statistically that's true but if you get a LOS on three shadows you have a very good chance of destroying them too.

You are right about the command squad cost in some ways. I hope they get additional options. The other question would be what functionality does the sergeant model actually have? Why include him here?

All this and more should hopefully be answere in the advanced rule book.

Really looking forward to the AMB.

I am fairly sure that once we get a few more waves under our belt that the EFTF command squad will stop being an issue. The one thing I do feel is that the PLA infantry squad is over priced a bit.

My bad also, it's obvious to me now that's what you meant, I can get very literal about probability, statistics and combinatorics, especially when I'm tired

And grumpy when someone says you cheated too. ;)

I only get grumpy about it when it's a lie, which it always is cos I never cheat, my reputation as a rules lawyer is too important to me

Ummm, I'd be willing to look it over, though I'm not sure how much use I'll be at playtesting. I can definitely rules lawyer it tpo within an inch of zero ambiguity if that'd help

I can offer some playtest input though.

Hmmm I can see we're going to need specific rules for furniture providing cover.
"Sorry that lazy-boy only provides obscurement because it won't stop the bullets, that fridge on the other hand..."
"or ha ha! You're flashbang rolled under the leather couch, no one was blinded!"

Anyone know a good 28mm interior decorator? :D

Don't worry bout it LBH, we all write stupid things and make mistakes. Glad you pointed it out.

You're welcome, what exactly did I point out? :? :?:

It was a while back. My miss-type about the warrior having 6D10 and 9D6 in a turn not a shoot action.

Hmmm... I can see cqc will bring a bit of action to any child's doll house (whether it be the child that plays evo or their parents)
"Look honey I bought you a doll house for Christmas."
"But Dad, why are there parts of the walls missing."
"That's because I had to create another more dynamic entrance area."
"All the furniture is damaged."
"It had to look realistic for the battlefie... I mean for a downtown doll house."
"Can I play with it now?"
"Yes you can, but Uncle Johnny's coming over in half an hour and we're going to need it back."
