Nashcon 2013 begins in 6 days and the ACTASF tournament in 7.

Who's planning to be there for either:

Battle for Kh'rtis Rock on Friday evening
ACTASF tournament Saturday
or both?

Myself, Plasmaboy, and Kenneth will of course be there.
Anyone else?

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to pass. Don't have the money to spare for the trip, unfortunately. Hope you guys have fun!

Well, we will be doing this again next year, so start saving now!!!

Seriously though, for anyone interested, NashCon is held every year on Memorial Day weekend - and I definitely plan to do this again next year. There should be a revised ACTASF rulebook out, and maybe even book 2, and wave 3 of minis by then. So with more stuff to play with, I want more people there to play it.
Start planning now! 8)

Day one of NashCon is over.
Battle of Kh'rtis Rock was an awesome experience.

We had 12 people playing at the same time. 6 Klingon players / 6 Federation players.
4 of whom had never played ACTASF before but are now hooked.
We got a late start (4:00 instead of 2:00) or we could have gotten another turn or two in.
After 6 turns, the BATS was destroyed and so was half the Federation assault force - but there were fresh Federation forces just arriving.
Points wise, the Klingons had the edge... barely. But with fresh Fed ships and severely damaged Klingon ships - it still could have gone either way.

Everyone had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Pictures to be posted on Sunday after everything is over and I have time to gather what few wits I have left.

Nashcon is complete.
What a greattime.
27 hours of ACTASF gaming in less than 48 hours!
I'm beat.

And already working on next year.
Planning a series of inter-related sessions for the tournament. More info on that to come.

As for Friday night...
I intend to set-up a poll for likely attendees.
I've got a couple more ideas to tweak Battle for Kh'rtis Rock to make it play even faster...
So we will either do that again, or perhaps a series of bring-n-battle games...
We'll see.

a complete AAR will follow as soon as I have put away games / books / and minis, reviewed photographs and notes, and have decompressed.

Day two update:

The tournament ended up a bit smaller than originally hoped.
Several players who wanted / planned to be there had unavoidable issues arise.
We had a total of 8 players... 6 full time and 2 part-timers.

the end results were:
Merl DeWitt - 1st place.
Mark Thomas - 2nd place.
Michael Olive - 3rd place.
Mike Curtis - 4th place.

Day three was just some demos of ACTASF and a special request demo of Federation Commander.
Merl DeWitt graciously showed Robert Stusse the FC ropes, while I did my usual thing...
Demos, answer questions, and generally talk up ACTASF.

During the two demo sessions scheduled (Friday afternoon and Sunday morning), I ran a total of 14 people through a brief (30-40 minute) game with 2 Fed heavy cruisers versus 2 Klingon D7s.
Most of the demos were actually two people playing against each other, but a couple of them were me versus a demo person.

More that a few of them asked where the game could be found and were their any players in their areas.

The best demo occurred on Friday afternoon.
Robert Stusse (lincolnlog on the forum) came down from St. Louis for the game. Well, the first two guys to come up and inquire about demos had already bought the game and some minis, but hadn't had a chance to play. As we were chatting - I found out they were from the St. Louis area - so I immediately introduced them to Robert - who immediately took them under his wing and proceeded to explain the game mechanics and where they played in St. Louis, and when they played.

I had a great time at Nashcon! I learned a lot. Tony and his group are a great group of folks. I tried, unsuccessfully to get him to move to St. Louis.

Oh well, next us for me is Diecon right here in St. Louis in June. Running a single game on Sunday morning this year.

But I tried even harder to get Bob to move here.

I went to the real power. I appealed to Mrs. Lincolnlog.
I even tried to get my wife to come over Saturday and go spend time with her to talk up the benefits of living in middle TN and to have her offer a free membership in the Gamer Widows Club - TN Chapter. But alas, one of her co-workers sons was injured in a motorcycle accident Friday night and was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center with severe head trauma.
Evey covered her shift so she could go to the hospital instead.

We'll get her hooked next year.
I'll encourage the GWC to plan an expedition to the Tennessee Renaissance Festival and then dinner afterwards. She'll be hooked and Bob will have to move.

I almost spit Diet Pepsi all over my monitor when I read this!
