ACTA - Turbo weapons refit

really need a Matt answer for this one, turbo weapons refit states the following:

Turbo Weapons: Choose one weapon system. It immediately gains the Double Damage trait but has its Attack Dice reduced by half (rounding up) +1.

now do you
1: half the weapon AD round it up then add one eg 5AD weapon halved is 2.5, rounded up gives 3AD +1 is 4AD

or
2: do take away half the AD rounded up plus 1 eg 5AD weapon minus 4AD gives 1AD weapon?

to me its option 1 (and is the way we always play it) as the other way makes this refit a complete waste of time and space but seems some people play it option 2. if you go option 2 you dont even get any AD left until you have at least 4AD on the weapon otherwise.

if this helps... from the SfoS FAQ

Refits & Other Duties
For Turbo Weapons, halve the Attack
Dice, then round up, then add one. So,
a weapon system with 7 AD initially,
will be halved to 3.5, rounded up to 4,
then have one added for a total of 5.

So you are saying that if I give this trait to a ship with a 1 AD Beam it will go down to .5 AD, rounded up to 1 and then add one for a total of 2 AD DD?

Why round up ? Wouldn't the result be more accurate if you would round down ? There are several instances in the rules when you are supposed to round down (adaptive armor for example).

Because the turbo weapon refit specifically states to round up.
The main issue behind this question is that the rules state that once you've done the halving, rounding up, and adding 1, this is what you reduce your current AD by. Most people play it as this being to result you reduce your AD to instead, so we were wanting to find out what the actual intent was

Random thought: There's a few of these where the written rules contradict what was intended - is anyone keeping a list ready for the FAQ/errata?
