[ACTA SF] Drones/defences question with new errata

1) Does defensive fire happen before or after rolling attack dice to see how many are on target? Im currently assuming before

2) Now Seeking weapons can require a dice roll to hit at longer range, if they roll do they now potentially penetrate shields on a 6? I assuming that it may not.

Cheers all

IMHO (and the way we play it here at BGM)
1: Defensive fire is considered a last ditch effort to stop the incoming seekrs, so by the time defensive fire rolls around - the ships intrepid crewmembers have already determined which seekers are no longer tracking in and can avoid wasting limited fire on them. Defensive fire therefore; happens after the lock-on check.

2: from the text of the "seeking" trait:
...With the damage spread around the entire target ship, no rolls are made to see if the weapon penetrates Shields...
The lock-on roll is not a to hit roll, its a roll to determine if lock on is retained; therefore, even on a six - the damage does not penetrate the shields.

I know it's not the SF ruleset, but in B5 ACTA you only rolled Dodge and Interceptor Dice after you rolled the Attack Dice against the target hull. You don't waste defences on stuff that's missed :)

I'm not sure if that logic carried over into SF
