ACTA RIP....

Understood, however financial changes can hit a company very, very quickly. They might not have known that this was going to happen at the start of the year.

Correct. What was true two months ago is not automatically so tomorrow. We have always been as straight as we possibly can be with our customers, often to a fault - where other companies might have not said a word about what happens in the background, we tend to explain what is happening and why.

We are not infallible, and we cannot always control the financial/competitive environment in which we exist. But we can be as straight as possible.

that is a huge load of sh"%§$....really, i am sad, angry etc...

I have shown my new Centauri Venator and now.....???
Have now real worries about the future.

Well, though I am thouroughly dissappointed with this announcement, I for one will never stop playing this game. I love it and will play it until I no longer am able.

On the bright side LBH might get his ships put together and painted now.

Thanks Bry, I love hearing that you will not give up on ACTA.

Iron Wind Metals (formerly Ral Partha) is the company that makes the Battletech minis and have for years, I say Mongoose needs to get with them or a company like them to produce the minis for this game, let them do all the casting, that's what they do, make minis.

Agreed. That would save this game.

The confrontation figure line from Rackem, or something like that, have stopped production of what was the finest range of 25mm fantasy figures I've seen. Apparently they have dumbed down their controntation rules and have gone over to pre-painted plastic figures.

I am not sure that was done because of the price of metal (completely). Rackham announced their move to pre-paints in 2006. As far as dumbing down the game, that is debatable.

I agree. Ask the guys from Iron Wind, but keep on selling ship please.

Unfortunately, our licence with Warner Brothers specifically prohibits this, and there will be _no_ chance of changing it.

Mike,
I don't play the game, and haven't read the rules, just passing on what I've herd from normally reliable sources.

However all figure companies are feeling it at the moment, that much is fairly self evident.

Well it's the cost of printing counters in main rulebook. If GW allowed couters in their games (or at least non-GW minis) they would also end up without any models.

I will agree that when you deliver bad news you do explain why the bad news more so than other companies. However, I still think that Mongoose has not always been upfront about their miniature game lines.

The game can be played with counters easily enough
True for all miniature games(including GW games). Yet no miniature game has survived this sort of blow no matter how high quality rules and dedicated fans there are.

ASL and SFB have survived; there's an entire industry of hex-and-counter wargames out there too. Hit BoardGameGeek if you want examples.

The trick is getting the people who have painted fleets to consent to play with mere miniature-less mortals. I get that you spent a lot of time painting the models, and they look very nice, and I admire the workmanship and dedication. But I just want to play a game, ok?

That's sad to hear :(

I will continue to support the game at our gaming club as long as possible.

AN important other question????

with the price is reduced, now or later, a lot and i think REALLY a lot of players buys ship before they are out of stock. for ever....
can MGP handle all this???
I want to buy some more ships.

I agree that the price of metals are hurting the metal miniature industry. The issue for me is how Mongoose has handled all of their miniature games with their customers. If they are losing money, they should cancel the line. Just do not sell us roses before you do it. If this was the first time they had done this, I would be able to shake it off, but to have owned almost all of their minis games and to have the same thing happen after grand plans and promises, it is frustrating.

thanks for info

Hmm I presume it is all tied up with the B5 RPG ? Is there any chance of impact on that line?

regarding S+P is support still continuing on ACTA within this and is there any chance of the "annual" update book youb mentioned previously still happening?

Didn't they did the same to BF:Evo, MegaCity One, SST?

I thought Mongoose would be more intelligent than to drop their flag ship miniatures game. As it seems, they are not!

Now I feel like I've been kick in the nuts, but I'll survive, we all have to.

No chance whatsoever to say commission a 3rd party to produce the minis for you?

So far, yes. Orders are coming in thick and fast, but so far they are being managed. . .

i hope this, really.

20 percent discount sounds good. But I still get the ships that I would like to have if all?

So the same procedure as every time. When you criticise them, they delet you.

They should open their ear and read the post and should hear the screams of their customers. And what they would hear is that their decision is not liked. But instead they try to tell as every thing is good and bright.

So, Mongoose, here is it: No minis any longer has KILLED ActA. Period.

Good job on that!
