ACTA RIP....

Precisely because people would rather let a game die (and spend copious amounts of time and energy complaining about it) than try to figure out how to keep it alive (using that same time and energy).

Sorry but people can't start producing and selling models themselves to keep new blood coming in. I assume you know that such an act(only option that could do it) would be, not only complicated and expensive(we are talking about setting up your own miniature casting factory and mail order department!), also illegal!

If you don't believe me try to cast and sell ACTA models and see how fast lawyers are knocking on your front door ;-)

Sorry but no legal and realistic option ensures that game stays alive. We have SEEN that happen! High quality game with dedicated fans trying to keep game alive at all cost but end up with dead game ANYWAY. It's inevitable. No new blood=dead game eventually.

The announcement of the end of production of mini's was just this morning, it would take months probably to work out the details. Who knows, the parties may have something in the works already. I will agree with the individuals on here that if there are no mini's then you can kiss this game goodbye, as it takes miniatures to bring in new blood to keep a game going.

Well, time will tell, just like always. Right now I'm not hopeful, but who knows? If you're reading this, Matt, you'd better put resuming ACtA production at the top of your list for next year, if not sooner.

I feel sorry for those earthers who lost their homeworld, a grand admiral, and a heck of a lot of ships . . . for what? The promise of a new ship; which doesn't look likely to materialise. Such a shame.

In the words of our glorious Emperor Mollari "All is well that ends well yes?"

Just trying to bring a little lightheartedness onto the thread. On the more serious side this sucks.

:D :D :D :D :D :D

ACTA was the only thing keeping me as a Mongoose customer. I've been burned by them before and now never again.

Just an aside guys, Mongoose arn't alone in this, other fantasy figure ranges are disappearing, and even regular historical wargaming figure companies are complaining about the costs of metal and having to put their prices up. We are not alone in getting hit by this one!

Except Mongoose is not raising prices, they are cancelling the line. What are lines are you referring to in terms of disappearing? Did they make the same bold statements and promises that Mongoose did shortly before canning a product?

i'll keep my Vree and Narn but i think i'll sell my Minbari, now that we won't be able to buy ships maybe we can get some kind of Trade forum going??

and yes, this does blow.

The confrontation figure line from Rackem, or something like that, have stopped production of what was the finest range of 25mm fantasy figures I've seen. Apparently they have dumbed down their controntation rules and have gone over to pre-painted plastic figures.

Guys, play nice with each other, or the thread fairy will visit. . .

Seems like a thread gets nuked every time people show a lot of disappointment at teh company anyway.

I'm amazed someone hasn't dropped the modhammer on this thread already.

I am _amazed_ that anyone who has over 500 posts here still thinks this. . .

Well, though I am thouroughly dissappointed with this announcement, I for one will never stop playing this game. I love it and will play it until I no longer am able.

On the bright side LBH might get his ships put together and painted now.

Thanks Bry, I love hearing that you will not give up on ACTA.

Iron Wind Metals (formerly Ral Partha) is the company that makes the Battletech minis and have for years, I say Mongoose needs to get with them or a company like them to produce the minis for this game, let them do all the casting, that's what they do, make minis.

Bubba

Seconded, Ral Patha produced some of the first figures I ever bought, back in the early 80s, and are still going now (ok, different name). They might be the answer to all our prayers.
