ACTA RIP....

Ian Bairstow, aka Mongoose old bear, aka just old bear, has been made redundant from Mongoose. These are not good signs.

Indeed they are not! ACTA and SST cancellation, and now this. I hope the company has shed all that it needs to to stay afloat.

Regards,

Dave

P.S. I'm really sorry to hear about Ian - my use of the word "shed" isn't in anyway meant to belittle the loss of his livelihood.

Lister: Where's everybody?
Holly: Everybody's dead Dave.
Lister: You mean everybody?
Holly: Everybody's dead Dave, everybody's dead.

What about Ted Chang?

Holly: Everybody's dead Dave.
In a 40k tourny, I actually played a guy called Dave Lister in my first game of the day. When I was just mopping up the remains of his army, his mate came over and said, "They're dead Dave, everybody's dead."

It was the funniest thing I'd heard in ages.

the Warner Brothers B5 liscence with MGP is very likely up for renewal in 2009... crunch time methinks.

I know most of issues concernig this sad news haven been said. But after reading over 20 pages in this Thread I cant rembeber evrything said here.

Its a pitty that MGP will drop the minis fpr B5. I can understand there way but are very sceptical if this will keep the game alive. Most guys I played with find the counters okay for some demogames but for a getting really into the game there have to be minis. (Even if there a sometimes craply moulded) Its a Tabletop Game!!!
Without minis no new players from my point of view. I think this has been said a thousand tiomes before.
Those "new" books MGP promises are not of intresst for me because it will be just another bunch of information I cant put in use because nobody will play with my counters.
And that MGP will restart there mini production in 2009. When it snows in Hell and X-mas and Easter are on the sameday maybe....

So I think the game is dead, because logic dictates you need allways new players, which will be hard to find just with counter or e-bay. Thats the rules of the economy.

MGP brought themself into this trouble because they overextend themself. To much RGP Stuff paired with TT.

Maybe there will be hope in the future but how knows but MGP.....

Maybe know is the time for me to change to VaS because there MGP only needs to support the rules and the minis I can get from company like GHQ. So the quiet good rules are not dead for me anyway.

Enogh for me know. I just wanted to give my 2 cents for this thread.
This thread is yours again gentelman.

This might be a very, very strange metaphor, but...

When you play empire-building PC games, like Master of Orion, Galactic Civilizations and such, often your empire will expand and keep on expanding for quite a while. Then, at some point, you will have overextended youself and loose planets and stations to a hostile galaxy.
At some point you will be able to stop the opposition, consolidate your forces, and strike back, until you will be able to re-conquer your lost territory, often with the added bonus of additional structures built by your opponent, and in the end you will eventually take over the galaxy.

At the moment, it seems to me that we have lost the "miniatures production" colony and the "Mongoose Old Bear" outpost, but let´s wait and see what the next turns will bring... :)

That is a superb analogy :)

Except human beings don't switch off when you turn off your PC...

That´s the problem with any analogy, it only comes so close to the truth... I was talking about MGP in general, I know that it doesn´t do your personal situation any justice (and I meant no offense here), but what I had to say about you in person I have said at another place! :)
