ACTA RIP....

is it possible that once the economy recovers from the slowdown/crash, whichever it amy be, that production could start again, or is ACTA going to end and never be revisited again?

As I said elsewhere, anything is possible.

The other factor, of course, is that there has been a slowdown on B5 overall for a while - unfortunately, Lost Tales did not really perk things up.

Still, if Joe gets cracking and a studio decides to do a B5 feature film. . . well, anything is possible!

Except for a whole bunch of gamers wanting either a TLT Valen or Vorchan mini in their hands. :)

If people really, really want to buy new miniatures after the deadline, then wir sollten unser Deutsches üben und Urobach besuchen en masse

Spoken like a true european ^^ 3 languages in 1 sentence ^^ cool.

(Translation to german whole sentence: Falls die Leute wirklich wirklich neue Miniaturen nach dem Produktionsstop (translation for deadline in this case) haben wollen, dann sollten wir alle unser deutsch verbessern (better word for "üben" in that case) und Urobach viele Besuche abstatten.

LOL sorry had to do that ^^ was to funny.

What do you mean by "either"?

this might have already be answered somewhere else but here goes anyway, if no minis are going to be made anymore does that mean no more books etc will be made (ie 2e is the final release?)

There will indeed - we are still working on Powers & Principalities, and I would very much like to release a Dilgar War book later this year. There is also talk of counter packs. . .

Yay, counterpacks..... sorry but that just won't do for me.
It just won't be a miniature game anymore.
And why is it that ACTA get's the boot and won't come back at all?
SST players'll get a second chance but not us, it just ain't fair.
I'm sorry but Mongoose didn't just loose a lot of customers but a lot of credibilty as well.
I wont buy a rulebook that I can only use with with a blend of mini's and colourfull bits of carton, I might just as well buy pen and paper and write the names of the ships on them and use THAT as counters.

All that I can say is CRAP. Now that Agents of Gaming AND Mongoose Publishing have dropped the ball, maybe someone else can pick up the license to do the miniatures.

What a horrific series of events. B5 fans have been burned yet again.

Really not interested in counters...which is a bit odd, because I most often play SFB and FedCom with counters, despite owning dozens of minis for those games.

But B5 always seemed to require lead. If Mongoose produce any new ship designs I want to use, they'll be proxied using models from other companies.

Even those I play with mini`s (the Task Force ones, even the plastics from I dunno, now 25 years ago) :)

I have been reading this from the first day and made comments. After reading and thinking about this, I was wondering how some of the other manufacturers are keeping their costs down, such as Iron Wind Metals, who make for one the Battletech line. These figures have as much if not more metal in them and with greater detail, and the cost of these figs. are lower than B5 figs. They are also cast in the US. Maybe there are more figs sold, and that is the reason they can keep the costs down.

Maybe it's one of those great universal mysteries that either will never be explained by Mongoose, or will drive you mad if you ever learned the truth

This is just speculation, but it seems Mongoose was suffering significant costs in "quality control" issues; broken and destroyed molds that needed replacing, and based on the amount of flashing and misaligned models received by players, lost product through even lower quality and irrecoverable models.

Personally, I’ve always wondered why 3D Printing or its various iterations isn’t more popular in the modeling industry. Certainly, it costs more to start up, but in theory the advantages weigh out: Because you create digital “CAD” models that the 3D Printer creates, and with the right printer, the accuracy of these Printers is extremely high, you have the advantage of consistent, high quality models for a relatively low cost, and you never have to worry about breaking molds and having to "remold" and "recreate" models as you have the digital copy. Even if you just used the Printer to make molds, and then used the molds for model mass production, think that’d reduce costs because (unless you did something dumb like delete the electronic “blueprint” or fail to back it up) you’d always have the ability to produce new molds with the 3D Printer. Still, they're not being widely adopted, so I'm sure there's a reason...

Mongoose had been using this tech for most of the newer models since Armagedon.

Hmmmmmm...... I do CAD for a living. I have thought on numerous occasions about doing this for a custom model, maybe it's time to try it out.
