I hope it's still kosher to ask questions here about ACTA. If not, just let me know.
In our battles we often use fighter flights in support of ships to provide Interceptors. The problem we are having is deciding when fighter flights die while performing this duty.
The rule book states "if any dice roll a 1, then a flight is automatically destroyed". The wording is confusing, because it doesn't give the scope of the dice roll. It does not state 'for each dice that rols a 1..." so we read that every 1 rolled in a single throw doesn't kill a squad. But we aren't sure.
Here are the 4 possible interpretations we have come up with.
1) Yes...every "1" rolled kills a fighter.
- No limit to number of fighters killed.
2) Any number of "1"s rolled in each throw to intercept a hit kills a single flight.
- Maximum of one fighter killed per hit scored
3) Any number of "1"s rolled in a single volley kills a single flight
- Maximum of one fighter killed per firing ship
4) Any number of "1"s rolled in a single turn kills a single flight
- Maximum of one fighter killed per turn.
All of these are possible interpretations. Each has a big effect on how survivable fighters are in combat. Each player in our group favors the version above that most suits their fleet and playstyle.
Any official word on how this works would really be helpful.
Thanks!
