ACTA FAP RULES

Can we please have the definitive rules for using FAP points please.

As it stands there are various mistakes and changed across the two books meaning none of it makes any sense.

I think the biggest question is can points be split down Amageddon stylee or is the combining up rule intended to replace splitting down?

The fleet book only has the rules for combining up but confusingly has the summery for splitting down.

Not official, but if it helps, Matt Sprange's already posted that the rules in the Fleet Book should be used. Meaning the written section, not the table I'd assume. Ignore the table if yours uses the rulebook breakdowns (mine doesn't seem to).
I'm sure an official post will appear soon enough.

The way to tell is to look at War points - mixed skirmish and patrol.

Spliting down gives 7 skirmish, 2 patrol

Combining up gives, 1 skirmish, 10 patrol
or 2 skirmish 8 patrol
or 3 skirmish 6 patrol
or 4 skirmish 4 patrol
or 5 skirmish 2 patrol

Any breakdown below war will give no difference between combining and spliting.

Hi guys,

I must be really thick today, but I cannot see where you are having trouble. As has been said before, use the Fleet List FAP tables if in doubt (the vast majority of rulebooks have the same tables).

The Fleet Allocation table on p2 shows what you can buy with each FAP, if you keep all ships in a FAP the same Priority level. P3 shows you how to break down FAPs into differing PL ships.

I am pretty sure this is _not_ what you are asking, in which case I am missing something somewhere!

Matt has just confimred in another thread that it is the table, NOT the rules in the Fleet Lists, that we should use.

Here's hoping it gets sorted for the pdf.

This little exchange was posted in a thread that had nothing to do with FAP's but it appears the clarifications we all so desire are held within...

Take a FAP, split it into 2 FAPs of the next lowest level. You can then take one of those and split it into two downwards, and so on.

For example;

1 War point breaks down into 2 Battle points. One of those can then be split into 2 Raid points, and so on.

So the rulebook FAP is correct after all?

Which is what the rulebook says, but which you said was wrong?

Even more confused now.

From what I can make out this is the current run-down of things...

The FAP Allocation Table in the Fleetlist is correct.

The FAP Allocation table in a few of the early Rulebooks is wrong.

The rules for splitting FAP's in the rulebook are correct.

The rules for splitting FAP's are non existent in the Fleet book and instead are replaced with rules for combining up which are not to be used.

I think Matt was unaware that the rules in the fleetbook were wrong...

So...

Here is how it stands...

  • The Fleet Allocation Points table in the Fleetlist is correct.
  • The Fleet Allocation Points table in a few of the early Rulebooks is wrong.
  • The rules for splitting Fleet Allocation Points in the rulebook are correct.
  • The rules for splitting Fleet Allocation Points are non existent in the Fleet book and instead are replaced with rules for combining points which are not to be used and shouldn't even be there.

It is also worth mentioning that the "Fleet Allocation Points table" is the handy table that tells you how many ships one of your Fleet Alloctaion Points will buy you at a single Priority Level.

This correct table is on page 2 of the Fleetlist book.
