ACTA 2nd ed - flight computer (vorlon)

Came across an interesting situation the other day.

I had a Vorlon DD and it was hit with critial damage and a trait was lost -Flight computer. Since the ship has no crew and lost its flight computer we played that the ship is gone.

Is that correct or does it have some other effect?

Not to my knowledge. Vorlons regenerate all criticals at the end of the phase after taking them, it just means that it would aked as if it is skeleton crewed, at least that's how we interpret it.

Vorlon ships still have Crew Quality scores to my knowledge. The only thing the flight computer does it guarantee that its minimum CQ if 4 as long as the Flight computer is active. So if you rolled a random CQ for a Vorlon ship and rolled a 3 it would effectively have CQ 4 unless the Flight Computer is lost due to trait loss.

Just because Vorlons (and Shadows) don't have a crew on board doesn't mean they don't have a CQ they are living ships after all and the CQ score represents the experience of the living entity controlling the ship.

The reason I was thinking that, is that if a ship has a flight computer it still requires 1 crew in order to function. I understand that the Vorlon do not require crew but if they lose the flight computer also then there is nothing to fly the ship.

You still have the ship itself :)

IMO you are wrong. In your interpretation all shadow vessels should be dead. They don't have flight com and (exactly like vorlons) don't have crew too... ;)
In rules there ara no such thing. And should be, becouse this is huge drawback.

IMO Menthos are right, or rather I play exactly like he said.

edit: ups! msprange is here!

Flight computer is just a trait; it doesn't do much on the Vorlons. All it does is, if you roll a really poor CQ in a campaign, you can use the flight computer's CQ 4 for CQ tests. So if it is destroyed, that ability is all you lose (for 1 turn ;))

This is correct - basically, it gives a baseline of performance for Vorlon ships.
