About Monster creation and size...

Okay, say I want to create my own monsters. There isn't a lot of guidance as far as SIZ stat and how large a creature is. There are only examples.

Is there a chart or formula somewhere to translate SIZ into height/length/mass for given bodytypes?

No, not in MRQII.

But you can find a size chart for characters and an example list of object sizes in Chaosium's Basic Roleplaying (The Big Gold BOOK).

A free download product from Goblinoid Games called G.O.R.E. also had a table.

My rule of thumb for characters is that Size presents approximately one imperial stone per point, notwithstanding it is a scale for both frame size and mass. It doesn't really follow through for bigger monsters unfortunately as the scale increases exponentially.

There has been a lot of discussion of the SIZ Table in the BRP book over at BRP Central and a guy on the forum there 'Atgxtg' produced an revised and expanded table that seems to be very well respected.

The table can be found at: http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/76/exapandedandadjustedsiz.png

We also discussed SIZ in MRQ2 in this thread http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=42519&highlight=

If you are going to use the BRP Table (I certainly do) then you may wish to revise some of the MRQ2 creature stats for consistency but to be honest I probably wouldn't bother.

Thanks a bunch. So you recommend using the first one, the png. So we have mass. What about height/length? Is there some kind of translation for a given body-type?

From what I've understood about BRP / MRQ2 is that SIZ is based on mass / weight only. If you factor height / length into it then you get some very weird results.

In the absence of an official MRQ2 SIZ table, I would use the one I linked to above as it seems to be the best BRP Table. Apparently the one in the BRP Book itself was broken (i think the imperial / metric conversions were off).

I think the tables are very useful as a guide, but I would always take a look at any similar sized creature from Monster Coliseum as well to check your about right. SIZ has always been an odd one.

From the tables I'm only size 10 in real life! Sadly, this is probably about right!!
