In a Traveller version of Star Wars, would you want to shrink the size of the Star Wars Galaxy so that it contains only 11,000 worlds, something a tiny fraction of the Milky Way in size, that way you could draw a Traveller map with all the relevant Star Wars planets in it. You know with Jump Drives or hyperdrives that are capable of travelling only 1-6 parsecs per week and all? I think Traveller type drives would slow down the pacing of a Star Wars plot Imagine if it took a couple weeks to travel from Tatooine to Alderan, in the Movie they seem to do it in one jump, so Alderan could be no more that 6 parsecs away from Tatooine if we were to use Traveller rules.

Were I going to try a Star Wars style campaign in Traveller, I would be setting it in the Rebellion, putting important goals in front of the players, and keeping them moving. Wartime Pulp is easy as long as you assume the bad guys are incompetent without their leader around.
You can do the first movie in a subsector. The whole six movie cycle is easily done in two to four subsectors. The amount of space you need to get lost in (ala Hoth and Yavin 4) is directly proportional to the enemy's naval assets in your area. Pick a backwater spot, put an Escort Squadron (still enough weapons to pop a trader in one volley) and a single Tigress there hunting for resistance, and make your PCs the heroes of the resistance. Pop the Tigress!

This is actually the very first time I've heard of this background for Han. But then again, I haven't immersed myself in all the novels, interactive games, MMORG like "Old Repbulic" etc... that has come out in the last 20 or 30 years. I read the "Dark Force Rising' series in the late 80's.. or was it early 90"s...? But I just don't remember anything about his past. Depending on when he was kicked out, he might have 1 or 2 terms at most in the Navy. He was in his early 30's at the beginning of the series. (Harrison Ford was 33-34 during the filming of the first movie). Traveller can sometimes be difficult to transfer "I'm the best smuggler in the Galaxy" skill sets to pop culture icons. At 30 Han would have only 3 terms of "some kind of career" under his belt and would be lucky to have pilot-2, very lucky. 
But per the movies, he seems to be a much better pilot, and everything else, than the Traveller game mechanics can produce.
But now that I know his background, it would make sense to be Navy/Rouge. Or even Navy/Rogue/Merchant (picking up 1 term at most as a merchant "small freighter owner/captain".
Anyway, like the idea of a starwars/traveller combo.

Which goes a long way to explaining why he is a very good pilot, but a lousy mechanic. Good thing he has Chewie around.

…what about meeting a character who wasn’t in Star Wars? In the Star Wars Tales comic — which, to be fair, contains adventures that aren’t even considered part of the expanded universe canon — the Falcon is shot by Imperials, escapes through hyperspace, and crash-lands on a very familiar planet. It’s familiar because it’s Earth, which we know because Han Solo is killed by Native Americans. His body — and the Falcon — is found more than 100 years later by Indiana Jones and Short Round, while investigating the legend of Bigfoot, who is of course Chewbacca.
The stupidest moment of Revenge of the Sith was thankfully cut out of the final version, but the mere idea of it still sends chills down the staunchest Star Wars fan. The incredibly awful scene, which would have featured a 10-year-old Han Solo on the planet of Kashyyyk, being raised for no apparent reason by Chewbacca, and wanders out of nowhere to help Yoda track down General Grievous.
The young Dengar and Han were having an illegal swoop race on Corellia, their home planet, when at some point “Solo brought his swoop down directly over and in front of Dengar, burning his face in the swoop's exhaust and locking the repulsor fins of both swoops,“ which knocked Dengar off his bike and onto a bunch of crystal plants, one of which pierced his brain.
Boba first saw Han 12 years before A New Hope while hunting some dude on Jubilar for Jabba the Hutt, and noted “the young man was full of promise.” Then five years before ANH Boba captured Solo for pissing off some other Hutts, although Lando rescued him; this was just the first of several thousand times Boba Fett captured Han only to have him escape, which pissed off Boba to no end. Hell, at one point Jabba the Hutt had to pay Boba not to kill Han, because Boba hated him so much and Han was doing Jabba’s smuggling. Once, Grand Moff Tarkin hired Fett to find the Imperial deserter Solo, and ran into Darth Vader who was also hunting Solo for some reason (this was still before ANH) and then Fett and Vader fought over the smuggler (Han escaped during the fight, naturally).

It is certainly implied by those two lines in ESB that Vader and Fett have some history.

Personally, for Star Wars, I'd rather have a single official canon without alternative universes like Star Trek. I wouldn't be too pleased if Obi wan, after getting perforated by Vader, transcends to another Universe, where he encounters a brash ensign Luke Skywalker at loggerheads with Leia Organa, captain of the Alderaan cruiser, the Millenium Falcon.

Actually, didn't Vader, as Anakin Skywalker, kill Boba Fett's father Jango Fett in Star Wars II, Attack of the Clones, and Boba witnessed his father getting decapitated in the Arena. So you'd think old Boba would want to get revenge for that, wouldn't you?
