A question on permissions for copying parts of mongoose books for handouts.

Mongoose
I have a quick question on permissions on photocopying/printing parts of mongoose books (particularly Traveller) to use as handouts in my games.

Basically is it allowed?

I’d usually assume fair use but since I live in Korea now and fair use is heavily restricted here I thought I’d ask permission since I’m a government employee and will be running a game for fellow government employees. 😂

Much appreciated, it’s what I thought but now I have proof to show HR 😂
It is improbable that you will require proof, as copyright infringement claims can only be initiated by the copyright holder, which according to this question, appears to be Mongoose. You have also received confirmation that you will not be pursued for your individual "personal use."

Even when a government establishes such a law, they will not enforce it on their own unless there is evidence of large-scale infringement, such as piracy, counterfeiting, and illegal file sharing.

I thought the laughing emoji made it clear that was a joke… HR are bad but they’re not that bad 😀.

That said the Korean government is fairly proactive when it comes to enforcing copyright. Some fairly high profile cases in the last year where dudes got their net revoked for about $1 worth of copyright infringement.

Oh, now I see. I misread the tears as crying ... apologies.
Yes, I got the impression that the Korean government had reviewed the laws, mainly in the light of electronic storage. Only, that article was dated 2016, and I only see what is written in English, which I suspect amounts to very little. Much more news debated in Korean, I hope. :)

From my understanding it’s better than it was but the three strike system is still in force and I know the Culture Ministry still goes after people.

As for debate I think more people are pushing for a reform in the National Security Act (which makes it illegal to portray the enemy to the north or other communists in any favourable light (which means a guy was arrested for having a shirt with Kim Jeong Un smiling on it (he was released on appeal)) than for any major copyright changes.
