When you pass the comission roll, do you get an extra skill like the advancement roll?

As I understand the character generation checklist (8a and 8b), a cha-
racter in a military career can roll either for a commission or for an ad-
vancement (not both), and in the case of a success he then rolls for a
skill on the relevant table.
