a game question about multi hit

Mongoose
1) If a weapon with multi hit stirkes the target and you roll an attack dice for each multi hit does that mean you can have multiple crits.

example: 4 torps are fired, all four hit but two pass through shields. so i roll 10 AD worth on the attack table and i get 6 crits.

2) since an attack happens at one time if you have multiple crits hits the same system, do you go 1 by 1 and work my way to up to 6crits taking all effects in order or do i just jump to crit 6 and take those effects.

example: Rolled ten AD got 6 crits, all six crits hit impulse.

First off, you're not playing with those dice anymore. :)

Yes, as I read it, your example it correct. Let's make it easier:

Fire one Photon, roll one d6 to see if it hits. If you roll a 6, it skips the shields and does internal damage. It's a Multihit 4 weapons, so you then roll four dice to see what the damage is. Every 6 of that group is a critical. Let's say you roll 4,4,6,6, so that's two criticals.

You then roll 1d6 for each on the critical table. Let's say those are both 5, Crew hit. The enemy takes -1 Marine and -2 Marine / +1 damage. But because Photons are Devistating, both of those are double-crits, so they take level 3 & 4 results, causing another +2 damage / -1 to CD and yet another +3 damage / -2 Marines. That's a total of 5 Marines lost and 6 ectra damage points, plus other results.

The one thing I'm a little foggy on is the Escalate ... does that mean for that level only, or for any crit that level or higher? And if only for that level, in this example where it's already above that level but they haven't taken action for the Escalate, does the ship still need to do damage control to stop it?

Garth:
Escalate affects vessels at the "escalate" level and at all higher levels.
i.e., Dilithium Chamber. This reached escalate at a score of two. That means anytime the score is 2, 3, 4, or 5 - you roll for escalation.

As far as Escalate goes, you check every turn that the critical level is at the Escalate level or higher. Fires get worse if left unchecked!

The way I understand it, you check for Escalation if, at the point of the turn at which Escalation checks are made, any critical tracks are at the Escalation threshold or higher. So if you got a Critical Level of 2 on Crew (with the "multiple fires" escalation), but successfully used damage control to reduce the critical level down to 1 or 0, you would not escalate that critical.

yea i watched my stego vanish after four torps hit it, 2 bypassed shields and got 6 crits. it destroyed my impulse completly and the ship vanished.
