No boom Today. Boom tomorrow. There's always a boom tomorrow.

Yeah i know how you feel.
I for one won't be sitting around idly waiting for Mongoose to produce again.
I'll be taking my money elsewere.
:)

Well my completed order will be around £600 pounds... I will be busy for along time with assembly and painting no doubt....

But should mongoose re-open it's production lines then I am sure there are certain things I would still be interesting in buying as long as there not big paint jobs.

What i would like to know is; whats happening to the license under which Mongoose produced the B5 stuff? Are they gonna hang onto it or allow other smaller companies to produce them? Its easy to see them wanting to hold onto it, but eventually people will want to expand, start even replace some of their models. What happens then? Eventually even the most loyal fan will move on to something else. If anything its, in their interest to allow another company to produce the models and allow more gamers to start the game.

Perhaps a more pertinent question is: What will happen to the moulds? If the moulds are destroyed then it won't be possible to cast any new minis without going through the whole sculpting/moulding process all over again. On the other hand, if the moulds are placed in storage, then it's feasible that, even if Mongoose aren't interested themselves, somebody else could feasibly cut a deal on the IP and the license to start churning them out again, even if its in smaller numbers...

given that the majority of the ACTA moulds are the 2nd hand ones MGP got off AOG i really have to wonder at their continued use in the event of a relaunch here.

if ACTA minis come back, well & good but i have heard a few horror stories so will remain sceptical about this whole setup.

guess we will know for sure in 2009™

I know I said it before but why not look into a UK foundery as well, so they dont have to import the minis and pay a silly import tax.

plus the multitude of fun and exciting was the Government shafts business with all the other types of tax, regulations, and other random gubbins. Plus the demands of british workers in terms of pay and benefits compared to most other countries.

The FRPgames website still has all the pics (www.frpgames.com) since they still sell the line until they run out.

Cheers, Gary

They have about 99% of the stuff, but not everything. They also don't have the parts lists like Mongoose had.

It's an ok set of rules. Nothing to lose sleep over but for a "non universe" set of rules, it works.

It has however managed to remain incredibly popular around the world over many years and has spawned a number of official and unofficial "universe" variants (including a very nice B5 one, Honor Harrington, Trek, BSG etc.).

As they say in some quarters, "Full Thrust endures" :D

Oh, don't go there. I can think of a dozen or more really awful rules sets that can claim that as well as good ones. There is never a lack of folks willing to tweak a set of rules to death ;) It is sufficient to say that this is a good and playable set of rules.

Mongoose have merged all their Babylon 5 products into one place on their site. A move which makes sence.

Exactly - all Babylon 5 goodness is now in one place.

As for the forum, I can't see whay they don't merge it with the VAC forum, from what I understand the 2 games use the same rules.

Now, if we did that, I _know_ we would get lynched :)

No, we just have to import metal and pay UK wages.

Believe me, if a UK forge had made sense, we would have done it!

I personally hope that mongoose themselves doesn't lose hope on ACTA. I know that without minis I've been trying to find different minis for the game, and interest is still high in it locally.

I do not think this bump in the road will slow it down.

As is ACTA :)

I would, however, respectfully suggest as a wargamer of several decades experience (and with experience of many, many sets of rules across many genres, historical, SF and F, some excellent, some truly awful), that FT falls well within the upper bound.

As with any set of rules, personal taste will determine if it is a "good" set or rules or not. Everyone has their own requirements for a game to be enjoyable or "good". For me, FT was ok, not a jump for joy sort of game. I've collected some really awful space games, and ancients rules for that matter. I even have a copy of Lou Zocchis Star Fleet Battle manual whick makes for a great party game!
