I have tons of ships from the Axis & Allies: War at Sea game. The rules leave a lot to be desired so I am looking at another rule set. I purchased the Victory at Sea rules at my FLGS and hope to try them out soon. I have a couple of questions:
Has anybody who has used these ships adjusted the scale?
I am not a naval expert by any means but I think the A&A ships are 1:1200 scale. Which would mean an almost doubling of everything. Playing on a game table 12 feet x 8 feet sure is gonna limit the number of times this game hits the table! I am thinking of using the scale as written and ignoring that the ships are on the large size.
Has anybody played with the Aircraft rules?
The aircraft rules as written seem to under estimate their power. I noticed fighters are prohibited from attacking ships, but some fighters were capable of carrying of carrying a limited number of bombs and crude missiles to use against ships. Alternate payloads?
Can fighters also stay flying during the entire game? I noticed there are rules for planes landing on carriers, however I did'nt see a reason to do so. Did I miss something?
Lastly, I have noticed a ton of material for this game in the S&P magazine, wow! Thats amazing customer support and its the main reason I gravitated to this set of rules over other sets. Is there plans to produce more material for this game that can be purchased? I am thinking a supplement that targeted guys like me with lots of plastic ships from the A&A game would sell well.
Peace
