well...ummm. my FLGS ? By.....um....preordering ?

(My Rockin' FLGS: Games Kastle Santa Clara CA, has it in stock for those local. Ask for Jeff. ;) )

Oddly enough, I've been asked (via pm) to confirm that I actually have it and am not teasing the list. The answer is yes to both: I can confirm that I have 760 Patrons, and I can also confirm that I have a cup of coffee and a ham sandwich sitting next to it for a good lunchtime read , as we speak, all the better to tease the list with.....

...which I am going to go do......now

Impressive.

Most impressive.

Bryan has done an excellent job on this - congratulations and well done, that man! what?! eh?!

Crap. I want to agree, and say yes, very good job - but that probably is what you want me to do......unless.....umm...you want....uhhh.....

sound of brain ejecting from head yelling "that's it, I'm outta here"

Thank you very much. Anytime the work is appreciated my day gets just a little bit brighter.

Now, my personal opinion is that Mercenary is going to knock 760 off its feet in coolness factor, but I am very glad that 760 is going over well thus far. :)

US distributors will be selling it to retailers on Monday 21st July. Some distributors already have it while others will be getting it this week.

So I suppose the next logical question is "Why has it been listed as released on the website for the last two weeks?"
Because it says released this month and it is this month? Just a guess of course.

Daniel

Cute guess.

However, thats not at all what it says. The "760 Patrons" page has said for two weeks that it was "on sale now". Not pre-order. Not coming sometime this month. Ready for order.

I did finally get mine (today actually) but I would have waited until it was actually available to order it, which is what I thought I was doing.

I've just noticed that the cover layout on the advertisement for 760 Patrons has blue lettering and 'Supplement 1' under the main banner.
My copy comes with yellow lettering and no Supp.1

Are there multiple versions? or was there just a change of cover?

Excellent book btw.

The cover on the website was a mock cover that we did so people could see what was going to be released over the coming months.

The editor then designed the real cover, the one you have in your hands.

Ok, I am missing something. Not one of the stores in the Los Angeles area have the book and some claim they can not get it because the distributors (Aliance is one) do not have it.

Is this really out?

So does this book actually have the stats for 760 patrons, or just the means to generate that many?

Think of it as an adventure-launcher kind of book - each Patron outlines one possible adventure.

Actually each Patron (and there are actually 760 of them) comes with his or her (or it's?!?) own mini-table that has 3 - 6 different variations on the Patron.

Does that make more sense to you, LBH?

OK, but ho may patrons are actually statted in the book
None.
and how many can it feasibly generate?
Uhm.

760 Patrons isn't a giant list of 760 patrons with UPPs, skills and equipment for each patron, a la CT's 76 Patrons. 760 Patrons is a list of generic NPCs, each with a 1d6 table to expand upon the patron description. The NPCs are divided up into categories (I like the Alien Businessman one, btw Bryan ) so the Ref can choose the most appropriate NPC/Patron for the moment, then enhance the Patron with a swift 1d6 throw for a random edge.

The above is just a brief overview of the book - other will be better placed than I to provide a fuller description :)

CT's 76 Patrons wasnt a list of patrons with UPPs, skills and equipment either. It was much the same as this book, just far thinner.

I think you may have it confused with one of the NPC books, like 1001 characters.

Well, I got 760 Patrons in the mail Tuesday, along with the SM book!!!!!! 8)

I have to admit though, I read the SM book first.

I will be going through the Patrons book tonight, but from my quick glance it looks very good.

I will be generating some Patron Encounters from those rolls and posting them on the appropriate thread.
