750 pt starter forces

Hi All,

My goal for the modeling end of things is to complete the cleaning, assembly and priming of all my models, then work on painting an initial 750 pt force for both my MI and Bug forces. Any comments you have on my starter forces is welcome. I realize that I don't have a platoon breakdown for the MI, but I figured this would be ok until we see the actual army list.

MI:
1 Cougar Exosuit Lt. (180 pts)
MI Powersuit Squad +1 trooper, +2 Javelin Launchers (255 pts)
Mi Powersuit Squad +3 troopers +2 Triple Thud Launchers (305 pts)
Total: 740 pts.

Bugs:
10 Warriors (150pts)
16 Warriors (240pts)
5 Firefrys (100pts)
5 Hoppers (250pts)
Total:740 pts.

or alternately

10 Warriors (150pts)
5 Firefrys (100pts)
Plasma Bug (250pts)
5 Hoppers (250pts)

I'm a fan of having more warriors for your Arachnid lists. I'd bump it up to at least two units of 15 Warriors.

I'm also not sure how much use the Javelin Launchers are going to get. They're a bit overkill.

Good lists, though, and they'll be a lot of fun! Mostly I'd recommend getting more warrior bugs and maybe adding some tunneling assets since they're very cool to show to new players.

Goodluck, though, and I hope you have fun!

I'm actually going to try these out with the Evo rules, which is why you don't see any tunneling assets.

I think you are correct though... more warriors never hurt anybody.

As nasty as the plasma bug is in SST:Evo, I'd go with the extra warriors, you'll need them. Just remember that Warrior bugs are immune to suppression, hoppers and firefrys are not. As both of those bugs have a jump/fly ability, losing one action can take them out of position to unleash their attacks.
