ok so set up

4X4 table one person sets up the terrain how they like, then oponent chooses any 1 of the 4 edge.

both players then organise there unit cards into any order they like and put them face down on the table in a stack (back one on top)

both players roll a dice hightest can choose to go first or second.

first player then takes the card at the top of the deck and moves the unit onto the table upto 12" from their edge, and activates them.

then player 2 doese like wise,

then player one brings another unit on in order of the cards as prevouse turn, and activates both unist as they see fit, and play passes to second player.

this continuse till all your units are revealed.

the idea is to represent units comming into play as the battle escalates, and so if you demo the game it can be used to introduce the rules in a slower more organised manor.

break is at 50% modles lost (round down)

Also all forces must commit a min of one unit of troops to their list.

in theory they make very quick games, but in reality it makes very tense and tacticle games.

this is also good for demo games as its quick but allows people to see how stuff works.

here are 3 of my 500 point forces

PLA
DSCF0055.jpg

1 wz apc and 2 infantry squads (1 sqaud looses a Tow section)

EFT

*EDIY*ADDED*
USMC
DSCF0001.jpg

3 Shadows and 2 squads of USMC minus 1 team 2 good thing here is there is enough transports for entire group ;)

as you can see evan at this level there are some interesting forces here.

How about
1 Challenger II (425) and a command section (75) = 500 of three tank action goodness

Shatter points is a bit low though
No gut's, no glory!!!!!!!

The unit cards are a lot larger then I thought they'd be. Yay, no more reading cards with a magnifying glass! Some of those Warmachine cards are downright impossible.

2 1/2 infantry squads and a command unit (480 points)
2 Infantry squads and a Warrior (495 points)

Nice! Thank you Mr Evil, I'm going to show these pictures to my local gaming group. Someone was just asking me what a small game would look like. Oh and I second the motion that the models look good here.

Where's the USMC 500pt list??

if the shadows are 70 points each (wont know 100% till weekend as i get them for my birthday :)

the list would be

usmc inf x 2 = 370
shadows x 1 = 70

440 points

or
usmc inf = 185
shadows x 3 = 210
usmc inf - section = 105

500 points

This is the one i may go for providing point on shadows hasnt changed drasticly

of course this is with a perceived cost for a shadow, once weekend has come il update the list.

alternativly

usmc inf x 2 = 370
usmc inf - 1 section = 105

475 points

awsome, that should keep enemy pinned while your rpg deal with enemy armour, nice.

is it me or are the technicals shockingly light weight when you pick them up for the first time, lovely figs though.

Yeah i found that with mine too.

I love the look of Greg's force, Cant wait to pick up mine at overlord. I hate having to wait for it though.

Just a whole month and 4 days now!

ill have a quick go!

495pts USMC:

Infantry Squad: 275 (+ one extra fire team)
Force Recon Team: 150
1x Shadow RST - V: 70pts

lists are looking good.

PLA Type 99 Tank - 350
FAV - 75
Command Squad - 60

Total - 485

Or

PLA Type 99 Tank - 350
FAV - 75
FAV - 75

The idea is, keep the command squad out of trouble and near the tank. Use the tank's main gun to blast from a distance, use the FAV parked in cover to kill infantry.

If you need to move the command squad from cover, use the tank as portable cover.

Use the extra action to get units out of trouble when needed. A very risky army at 500 points, but interesting.

Personally, I'll be interested in seeing how many of these 500pt armies remain viable once the army lists proper are released ^^;;;
