I don't have anything against SST but somehow I very much doubt that it will be one of the games being published.

First of all, it is not "new". Secondly, while cool it won't fall to the gategory of "why noone has ever thought about it before?"

I hope this isn't a lot of hype like GW & FFG with letdown after revelation.

Yeah...they said it'd be a system similar to BE but different...if I recall right. Soooo, maybe that's the gimmick.

I have the doctor who tabletop game which is colour and free, always adding extra monsters etc and is a great game, so free does not need to be rubbsih or simple, so well done mongoose.

A ghost recon game would be a joy......

I was shocked too... a free core with the intention of making money on minis is a very 21st century business model.

But you know what? You can't download or torrent pirate miniatures! I reckon the financial loss to Mongoose, taking outlay on a print book versus the profits into account, will be small. Hell, might even make *more* money this way...

Well Matt & co., enjoy it until 3D resin printers become widespread and people *can* download miniatures! But that's years away

Haven't heard of that one. I'll have to check it out. And yes, a free online rulebook is a "living rulebook" as regards upgrades, bugfixes, extra monsters etc.

I can understand making the game free download.

Think about it, if you don't have to buy the rules, you can focus on buying the miniatures. It's easy access and it gives people a good idea of what they are getting themselves into.

Very smart.

But brilliant for us and for MGP.

I certainly hope there will be some tourneys in the future.

Tagalong, the system has already been announced as MC-1 and it has done its run of playtesting...

Though rogue trooper WOULD be nice, of course. But I have a pile of GOMC1 miniatures that havemn't seen the light of day for a few years!

And theres nothing wrong with doing Rogue trooper as well.

You dont just have to do Dredd, think of all the happy gamers out there with their shiney new Baneblade tank, SORRY I MEAN BLACKMERE.lol.

The new Free JD rules system, will have it all from the mega city to the crused earth etc... i have seen the early playtest rules, and had scope for any period you choose....

So SD bounty hunting to block wars and rogue trooper will be prefect for them, as well as any period, i think miami vice stype games would be good, when you can build up the police force etc.? or wild west 1800 ?

Also JD when i was reading in my school days also went off planet in a starship, and also JD fought " Aliens " i think..

So skies the limit and its all free..!!

Ps.. be a excellent system for people into starwars too, and i thinking of a modern day special ops - Ghost recon style when they appear...

Ahh I just read it properly, it says there's something else, something bigger and something 2000AD related.

Perhaps Slaine? Perhaps Rogue Trooper? Strontium Dog? Apocalypse War?
