It's the Yammato (sp?). The minis are supposed to be 1:800, but they seem to use scale as more of a guideline with A&A.....

The ships are 1:1800 and the aircraft are 1:900

1:1800 sounds better, but I could have sworn I read 1:800. Any which way, after their less than stellar record with scale with A&A minis, I'm still not sure I'll get these. That, and every time there's a problem with the minis, they spout "It's not a miniatures game, but a game played with miniatures.". Just figured it be nice to show everyone the picture I found.

I do appreciate the pciture. . . and have to admit that the ship doesn't look half bad. Its certainly not comparable with the gorgeous models in people's collections that have been shown on these forums, but for those folks who don't want to invest any time in model prep, seems like a good alternative.

However, I'll definitely be sticking with my Panzerschiffe/Victory at Sea plan, for 2 reasons:

1. Panzerschiffe is not "collectible." That model will probably run $25 on the secondary market. You just have to hope you're lucky enough to pull one or pay outrageous prices for them. Panzerschiffe Yamato - $5 and about 3 min of my wife's time to make ir presentable.

2. Rules. I think the Star Wars starship combat game has shown us that we don't have much to hope for in the way of an engaging semi-detailed yet fast-playing game. Instead it will be incredibly simply and targeted at the younger set (10-15). The game will probably be played on a mat marked in squares! No thank you! The VaS rules look awesome, and I'm chomping at the bit to get my copy!!!

They recently posted a PDF preview of the game

and it does indeed look like a disappointing rule set

Some local gamers are thinking of getting it but specifically to play using VaS

Yep. Yet another game in the category of "too simple." There are also plenty in the category of "too complicated." So far of all the systems I've looked at, only VaS seems to have struck the correct balance!

Hi. I don't believe it is 1:800. I have the 1:700 Yamato and it is @ 13 inches long. I collect and game with 1/700 scale ships. It may be a 1/1200 scale?

Thanks,

John
