Just to warn you all, the D20 licence ends at the end of December. This means all 1st edition Babylon 5 RPG books (the ones with the black covers) will be taken off sale on December 31st.

Therefore, if you have been toying with the idea of getting Darkness and Light, or maybe or the Minbari Federation Fact Book, you have just a few days to grab it!

I've been putting these off because I'm worried that they'll be of limited use for 2nd Edition. I've been looking at the books on DriveThruRPG and considering the race Fact Books (Earth Alliance, Minbari, Centauri, Narn, League) and Darkness and Light.

How much fluff is available in the books? Is it predominately extra atmospheric detail rather than 1st edition stats and feats etc.

Before I spend around £100 on these books I need to know that they'll be worth buying. Will there be an end of line sale by any chance?

We are not planning one (there are very, very few copies of some of these books left - as in, single figures!). However, I think a lot of the owners of these books would agree with me if I said that there is a _lot_ of useful background material in these books.

There is a lot of fluff.

Minbari, Centauri, Narn and League are probably 75% background, 25% rules and stats.

EA has a lot of ship and vehicle stats, but even so it is still at largely background.

There is only three 1st Edition books I don't have, I'm just wondering whetherI want to buy them.

Having looked at the contents pages, I think there may be more information in the Earthforce Campaign Sourcebook rather than the Earth Alliance Fact Book. Would this be correct?

Ah... I love the smell of burning MI demo credits in the morning...

On Greg's fluff recommendation I just ordered a one of each of the faction books remaining.

Well, more pages in the Earth Alliance book :) Seriously though, the Campaign book focuses just on EarthForce, whereas the EA book looks at the Alliance as a whole.

He's right you know. I have every single B5 RPG book of all editions, and they are all full of useful information.

Well ... I went and bought the fact books. Didn't take too much persuading ;)
Now I need to try and justify the UB5 and Traveller books next month.

I wonder if there's a Gamers Anonymous for the addiction of buying RPGs.
Hmm .. UB5, Traveller Core Book, High Guard ... the shopping list is growing.

What's happening with the PDF versions? Are you going to keep them onsale with the "OGL overdub" option provided by OBS, or remove them from the vending websites?

Matt, does this mean that all B5 products will be pulled soon? Both the RPG and ACTA stuff? What is the time line? Should I start to panic? :?

TT.
