1500pts Federation

I believe the squadron boxes have to follow the same ship selection as ADB's Starline 2400 squadron boxes. I think the fleet boxes are not restricted in the same way.

Get used to having too many BCH/DNs. If you get several Reinforcements boxes like I did (I got 6) to get less expensive supplies of the DW/NCL/NCA hulls, you end up with more BCH and DNs than you can likely ever use.

I'm still trying to sell off the 4 DN, and 2 BCH I have left, for months now, with no takers. Glut of them out there I guess. I predict the same situation with Gorn CLs once I get a Gorn Fleet box (3 in a fleet box, and it's a wreched ship IMHO)...

Some people are using extras to use as wrecks. I think Scoutdad is working on an article showing how to convert ships to the old style Fed DDs (I can't recall if it used the DNG or BCH mini).

That's what I was thinking of doing with the extra Dreads and Kirov's if I got anymore boxes (And I must admit, I am getting keen on the War era ships so I may do if I get a job.) One thing I may do with my second dreadnought is assemble it with the two side mounted engines angled upwards. (I got my mum the regular federation squad box, and that's how she assembled it and it looked good,) I do like the idea of using them as objectives/wrecks, or even kit bashed into new ships.
Any ideas on my fleet list with the new additions?

Just got the federation reinforcments squadron box, so anyhting you can suggest? And why do they put dreadnoughts in every box?

To expand on Bills explanation:
ADB originally released the Starline 2400 miniatures in boxes designedto match the contents of the Federation Commnader sets.
Store owners hate having multiple versions of the same product, so the decision was made to match the contents between ST2400 and ST2500 sets.

And while this set-up is great for Federation Commander, it sorta sucks for ACTA.
But as Bill said; there are options:
The extra BCs can be converted to have anatomically correct versions of the BCG, BCF,BCJ, and the BCP.
I'm in the process of creating a step-by-step guide (with photos) on how to convert a BC into a Franz Joseph Design era Federation Destroyer
The extra DNG can be converted to a Franz Joseph Design era DN (that's the one with the angled warp nacelles, ala' the Heavy Cruiser)

And so on...

what's the difference anatomically between theBCG, BCF,BCJ, and the BCP? And any idea on tactics with the box's contents when added to fleet box's to select ships for a 1500pts game?

Truth be told, there's not a whole lot of difference... but some of us are bonkers for miniatures.

Some of us actually fill in the heavy weapon ports and add additional pahser bumps to represent the added phasers on teh BCP (along with the appropriate name/number decals)...
And we fill in two of the photon ports and add plasma tubes or drone racks to make a BCF / BCJ (again, along with the appropriate name/number decals).

Actually... the BCG is in the rulebook.
All four of the Federation BCs are BCHs - Battlecruiser, Heavy.
The Kirov is a BCG - Battlecruiser, Guided Missile.
The BCP is an unbuilt phaser only variant - Battlecruiser, Phaser.

Ops, that's embarrassing :P I like the sound of the phaser variant, is there ant chance of rule for it being introduced?
Just wrote up this fleet:
Kirov Class (Bismark Varient) “Tenken” NCC-1770 240pts
Kirov Class “Australia” NCC-1752 240pts
Constitution Class “Castamere” NCC-1703 180pts
Constitution class “Agamemnon” NCC-1717 180pts
Wolverine Class “Lightning” NCC-1608 180pts
Kearage Class “King’s Landing” NCC-1508160pts
Ramius class “Walsingham” NCC-476 110pts
Ramius Class “Marcus Aurelius” NCC-480 110pts
Burke Class “Lunar” NCC-410 95pts
Fleet total:1495pts
Only 9 ships I know, but since I got the reinforcments box I have fallen in love with the war destroyer and new light cruiser, if I had another Kearsage I would drop one of the constitiutions or the wolverine and the burke and take that with the war destroyer. The wolverine will stay with the rest of the fleet and mainly acting as a phaser gunboat, though if an opertunity presents it self I can use it's speed I feel this has a good number of ships, and as I am going to be beaten by klingons initiative wise, I don't see the point in taking loads of small ships just for an Iniative sink when they would get destroyed when any of his vessels even looked at them. I know at least one of the other guys in the area who plays has federation as well, so I should roughly level with him unless he has gone frigate crazy :P
Also I'm thinking I could take this list minus the Australia, lunar and king's landing for a 1000pts game.
Edit: May take a promethius instead of the Agamemnon as it fell apart and is proving a night mare t put back together.

I just finished painting my Federation reincforcements box, and they look better then most of my other ships so I have decided I want to use them, even the dreadnought :P
The list is this:
Federation class dreadnought "Zank no Tachi" DNF variant 310pts
Kirov class Battlecruiser "Tenken" Bismark variant 240pts
Chicago class Heavy cruiser "Baretheon" 190pts
Constition class heavy cruiser "Castamere" 180pts
Kearsage class light cruiser "King's landing" (You can guess what music I was listening to when I assembled these two :P) 160pts
Ortenga class war destroyer "Hierakonpolis" 130pts
Ramius class battle frigate "Walsingham" 110pts
Ramius class battle frigate "Hadrian" 110pts
Callahan Police cutter "Moriarty" 75pts
1495pts
I know I'm probably going to lose Initative most of the time, but I would proberbly any way and so would rather have some ships That can take a hit, and I must admit the Callahan has grown on me :P
Realized the pts on the callahan is wrong, so I will have to drop it, I guess I could drop the Castamere and take two Texas light cruisers..
