Star fleets finest 1250pts list

With the restrictions for the star fleet's finest, ie no 150pts, I'm looking at this fleet:
U.S.S Titanic, Federation class Dreadnought (DNF variant) 310pts
U.S.S Castamere, Constitution class heavy cruiser 180pts
U.S.S Excelsior, Constitution class heavy cruiser 180pts
U.S.S Lightning, Wolverine class fast cruiser 180pts
U.S.S Sirius, Wolverine class fast cruiser 180pts
U.S.S Minotaur, New Jearsey Class Battlecruiser 215pts
Total 1245pts
I am thinking of possibly dropping one of the fast or heavy cruisers down to a Kearsage and then upgrading one of the others to a Lexington to use all my pts, but I am not sure how well that would work, plus the image of battle cruiser supported by a squadron of heavy/fast cruisers would look pretty good.

To be honest, for the sake of 5 points I'd stick with the nicer 'feel' fleets. You've got a line cruiser squadron with a squadron leader, a nice fleet flagship and a flanking unit. Should work well!

My Federation list is very similar. 1 x DNG, 1 x CC, 2 x CA, 2 x CF. I prefer yours with the Battlecruiser though - damn...

Well, we played Towering Inferno twice tonight, so the only time a full fleet was on the table it was picking on a mere 2 ships from the opposing fleet. Maybe next time we'll try one of the other missions.

Oh, and regarding the New Jersey: It was errata'd to be 240pts rather than 215pts, and then dropped to 220pts with the new stats - this would fit with what you were saying about prefering the old stats slightly.

Further to what I mentioned regarding the variants, do try to get Fleet Update #2 working. I know you mentioned that taking more drones might be an idea, and the uprated Dreadnought carries 6 of them alongside extra (turreted) phaser 1s and 3s (which I think you were finding useful for defence) for a total of 360pts. The points for this could come from either downgrading the New Jersey or the Constitutions (there are now older Constitution variants at 155, 160 and 175pts).

I try and take a look at it on the library computers a s a brake from revision today.
If I go for the heavier dreadnought, the lis would proberbly look like this:
U.S.S Titanic, Heavy Dreadnought 360pts
U.S.S Castamere heavy cruiser 180pts
U.S.S Excelsior, heavy cruiser 180pts
U.S.S lightning, Fast cruiser 180pts
U.S.S Sirius, fast cruiser 180pts
U.S.S Gloucester, New light cruiser 160pts
Total: 1240pts
My main problem with the list however, is having so many pts in the dreadnought means if it is destroyed or suffers an unlucky critical hit early on, the rest of my fleet may not be able to compensate due. Plus the heavy dreadnought cannot take plasma :P
Ohh that's a thought, swap the dreadnought for a Bismark, and then upgrade one of the constitutions to either a kirov/bisark/new jearsey, and upgrading the other constitution to either a chicago or Command cruiser.
Edit: Having looked at update 2 (A but can't print it) I'm thinking the 1650pts constitution refit may be a good idea as it still has the majority of the weapons and shields of the normal version, at 20pts discount ~(Does kind of put the Kearage in odd position though).

Except the older cruisers generally lack drones or point defence - so you're probably not actually gaining firepower, just relocating it to the dreadnought.

Besides which, it seems a little odd to have a late-war upgraded dreadnought leading a pre-war scrapheap cruiser group.
