Also ships do leave port with less-than-full ammo and fuel loads for various reasons. It happens with wet navy ships, no reason it shouldn't happen in space too. An out of ammo result can also reflect a launch malfunction. Drone launchers are a mechanical system. That does happen to them. The...
Again no offense, but I can't see how it is causing that many arguments except from a Minbari player whining. Who else is running that many stealth ships to care? Truthfully, it is the Drazi who get hurt the most by e-mines since they have small ships and no other real defense except dodge. The...
1) Proximity weapons have been used against fast moving aircraft since WWII precisely because they are MORE likely to hit their target. It is very difficult to hit a high-speed aircraft with a direct kill weapon at any reasonable range. It is substantially easier to hit it with a proximity-kill...
Not every defense, not by far. They can't crit so GEGs are nearly max effectiveness against them. The fact they don't crit and fire slowly also makes it hard to knock down shields or get much damage past adaptive armor.
The defenses they are extremely good against are pretty much just dodge...
No offence, the problem is that makes no sense. It never did even in B5W. I take a dag'kar and fire my ion torp at a hull 4 vree xeel that is trying not to be hit and have a 5 in 6 chance of hitting it. But if I fire the e-mine targeted on the point in space the ship just passed through I have a...
Sorry if this was already asked, but are any further improvements planned for the G'Quan? It was a little disheartening to see the new playtest pack with the same inadequate G'Quan as the last time.
Tzarevitch
That is one of the things that has always bothered me. The show mentions that the G'Toc was the only ship powerful enough (I think the Sharlins were technically busy at the time) then you see it come in blazing with its lasers. So what happens? In two editions of the game the G'Quans are given...
The reason the G'Quan is compared to the Hyperion is because when the G'Quan was being planned the Hyperion was the standard earthforce heavy cruiser. The Omega didn't exist yet. I am also not sure that references to the Hyperion made by the builders are a reason to downgrade it to raid...
Maybe it is just me, but if you agree that the secondaries are too short, why not just fix them and scrap the special action? With all of the special actions being added to the Narn to correct "deficiencies" how are they supposed to use them all without being 4-headed octopi?
A special action...
Not that I am trying to get into this particular argument but you can argue that shifters are defensive since you can effectively reposition the attacking ship. E-mines are defenses only under the "best defense is a good offense" rule. :)
Tzarevitch
I would agree, except it is easier to fix the handful of big ships by extending their secondaries, than it is to fix the multitudes of small ships with excessive weapon ranges. It is just a matter of practicality really.
Tzarevitch
I also didn't say all of them need to be 12, only those on large vessels ships. Most races already have range 12 (or at least 10) secondaries. The Narn and the Abbai are the main culprits without.
Weapons with ranges 3-6 were antifighter weapons. The few that were out there before went away...
Narn secondaries are too short range. Lumbering has nothing to do with their uselessness. Most Narn ships have 360 degree coverage. Secondaries are intended to defend the ship against lighter, more agile opponents but the Narn versions are too short to do the job. The T'Loths and all Battle and...
