    We've played the convoy scenario 3x now and after the first time we changed all civilian ships to the 1" per 5kts of speed used by all the naval ships. It let them move 2" to 3" along with the extra +1 for flank speed. I have to admit, my twin-linked cruisers and lots of destroyers for escorts...

    WAS: another typo I think, Tramp Freighter target 6+

    VAS: Why are cargo ships so slow?

    Agreed, their rated speed was 10 to 11.5 kts. But, that should give them a game speed of 2", not 1", if they were given 1" move per 5 kts of speed like every other ship in the rulebook. Even the "Victry" class ship at 17 kts gets it's proper 3" speed in game. Not quibbling about the rules but...

    All the warships seem to uniformly get 1" movement per 5 knots of stated speed. But, the cargo ships are half that speed getting only 1" movement per 10" of stated speed. (Liberty & Tramp) The exception being the Victory class which gets 3" movement for 17 knots which is in keeping with the...

    Very true, never considered that. And a double volley is priceless with some of the IJN ships. Launch port torpedoes about range 12", then turn around while closing and launch the stbd side from within 10" and nail them with both sets together at the end of turn.

    Right now we are already joking about taking an almost all DD and subs fleet and burying our opponent with torpedoes. The DD's launch at large enemy ships and then attack their DD's so our subs can finish off the enemy capitol ships with impunity. Sounds boring and probably loop holes there...

    Don't torps ignore the flank speed modifier and only use beam/no beam? And yeah, if you're dumb enough to waste torps on an evading target they've already earned their rerolls. :-)

    The secondaries typically had a much higher rate of fire. Think of trying to hit a moving target with a single rifle shot or with a machinegun, which is easier? We ignore the -1 for fast moving targets using secondaries. BTW- we also ignore the only 3 flights of planes can attack a target...
